A Hardy Improvement: Twins Trade Carlos Gomez to Brewers for J.J. Hardy

Anyone who knows me knows I am a big J.J. Hardy fan. I have always liked the way he has played.

Minnesota Twins Trade OF Carlos Gomez to Milwaukee Brewers

The Twins wasted no time making offseason moves, dealing CF Carlos Gomez to the Milwaukee Brewers for SS JJ Hardy.

Gomez, who was acquired in the 2007 Johan Santana trade, had 900 AB for the Twins during his two years in Minnesota. Although he was heralded for his speed, he only hit .248 as a Twin, and .229 during the 2009 season.

Gomez started the season in center field for the Twins in '09, but was benched due to his slumping bat. He was used mainly as a pinch runner and defensive replacement for the second half of the season.

Mariano Rivera: The 2009 Postseason MVP Of The 9th Inning

I've heard and seen many theories this week as to why the Yankees won the 2009 World Series and their 27th overall championship this past Wednesday.

Some thought it was the offense, which was lead by Alex Rodriguez hitting .365 and blasting six home runs and 18 RBI, World Series MVP Hideki Matsui batting .615 and Derek Jeter, who batted over .400 in the series

Some said it was the starting pitching of CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett and Andy Pettitte, who combined went 8-2, being the only team since the 1991 Twins to use three starters.

The Latino League Leaders in 2009

Let put it simple. Albert Pujols was the man this past 2009 season.

Pujols undoubtedly should win his third National League Most Valuable Player award. Probably the only question is if he will be selected unanimously.

Milwaukee Brewers Say Good-Bye to JJ Hardy and Hello To Carlos Gomez

The day that many Brewer fans have been waiting on for over a year has finally arrived. JJ Hardy was traded by the Brewers to the Minnesota Twins on Friday for centerfielder Carlos Gomez.

All along it was thought Hardy would be traded for a starting pitcher, but Brewers' GM Doug Melvin obviously had other ideas. Getting a non-pitcher for Hardy is very surprising to most, but Melvin undoubtedly has more moves in his arsenal to improve the team.

For Philadelphia Phillies, It Is Time To Chase Away Winter Blues

If in a loss everything would have a Phillies hue, perhaps if Chase Utley would have hit a two-run home run in the late innings of Game Six, and his Reggie Jackson breaking performance could have earned him the World Series MVP in a losing cause.

If the dinger was off Mariano Rivera and pulled the Phillies within a run or two of what was in reality was a 7-3 World Series clinching-victory for the Yankees...

The New York Yankees Top Minor League Baseball

Shelley Duncan has seen brief success when he has played for The New York Yankees from 2007 to 2009.  It is a completely different story when he gets full time play with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Triple-A affiliate of the 27 time World Champs.

Duncan lead the International League in home runs (30) RBI (99), runs and extra base hits, thus being honored by the Topps Company of New York, as their Player of the Year.

Ranking the 2009 Yankees

The New York Yankees are the best team in baseball—for the 2009 season (as we predicted in our World Series Preview ). But is this one of the best teams in baseball history? Is it even one of the best teams in Yankees history? What about this decade?

Fantasy Baseball Impact: Jeremy Hermida to Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox have acquired Jeremy Hermida from the Florida Marlins in exchange for a pair of minor league left-handers in Hunter Jones and Jose Alvarez.

Neither pitcher is considered a top prospect, as both are relief pitchers who offer little to no upside for fantasy baseball owners.

Hermida, however, is a different story.

MLB Fantasy Baseball Impact: J.J. Hardy for Carlos Gomez

According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (click here to view the post), the Milwaukee Brewers have traded J.J. Hardy to the Minnesota Twins for Carlos Gomez.

The move is surprising, in the sense that it was heavily thought that the Brewers would move Hardy in exchange for pitching, which they desperately need. Center field, however, was another void considering Mike Cameron is a free agent.
