Game Six of the World Series. The New York Yankees are just one win away from a world championship. They are sending Andy Pettitte to the mound. Pettitte has been one of the Yankees most clutch post season pitchers in franchise history. Given the Yankees powerful line-up; they are heavy favorites to close out the World Series without getting to a chaotic Game Seven.

NBC 4 in Washington D.C. is reporting the Don Mattingly, bench coach for the L.A. Dodgers, has decided not to interview for the vacant Nationals head coaching spot.

Honestly I'm not surprised. When I first heard that Mattingly was a candidate for the job I thought it was too good to be true.

However, as a Nats fan I can't help but feel a little offended that Mattingly won't even take the interview. 

I mean, I know this team is bad but with the right coaching they have enough young players to be competitive in the next few years.

After 23 seasons as the general manager of the Richmond Braves/Gwinnett Braves, Bruce Baldwin is relinquishing his position.

“I love this organization, but I love my family more and they’re back in Richmond,” said Baldwin. “I’m thrilled I will be back with my family full time and that I can remain working with the Braves. I’m deeply grateful and appreciative of everyone in Gwinnett, especially the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the county government, and all the fans.”

Although the 2009 World Series has yet to be decided, the series MVP has certainly been determined.  

Unless Andy Pettitte goes out and pulls a Don Larsen tonight or Alex Rodriguez hits four solo home runs in a 4-3 Yankees victory, MLB can begin engraving Chase Utley’s name into the 2009 World Series MVP trophy.

Utley is batting .333 with five home runs and eight RBI during the series.

Andy Pettitte and Pedro Martinez will face each other to decide if the World Series will go to seven games.

Once again, a New York Yankee made postseason history. This time, it was Johnny Damon in Game Four of the World Series. After Damon reached on a single in the top of the ninth inning, switch-hitting Mark Teixeira came to bat from the left side against the righty Brad Lidge.
