The night of Game Six of the 2009 World Series could be a memorable one for Yankee fans. It could be the night they finally get a chance to celebrate their 27th World Series, and their first since 2000. But for Hideki Matsui, it could be his last night as a Yankee at Yankee Stadium.

Hideki Matsui will be a free agent at the end of the season. The signs are not looking to bright for him to get resigned. The Yankees have said before they are more likely leaning towards re-signing Johnny Damon and letting Matsui go.

The New York Yankees have been a team on fire during 2009. The Yankees' success can be seen through their 2009 World Series appearance. But there is always that saying, "Behind every successful man, there is a beautiful woman," the Yankees hold true to this saying. I admit it.

I didn't expect anything from Pedro in game two which saw him go 6+ innings and give up a few runs, two of which came via the home run to Traitor Tex and Hideki Matsui respectively.

A whisper leaked out of Arizona on Wednesday that Chicago Cubs' left-hander Ted Lilly underwent arthroscopic shoulder surgery on Tuesday and isn't expected to return until April.

Here we go again.

So how does the knowledge that Lilly's now expected to likely miss the first month of the season impact the Cubs as they approach this important winter?

Let's examine a few scenarios.

When you lose, there's always a goat, always someone to blame.

Remember when the Cubs turned on fan Steve Bartman for stopping Moises Alou from catching that foul ball in Game Six of the NLCS against the Marlins in 2003?

Remember when Alex Rodriguez was slammed for being unable to perform in the playoffs when he batted just .159 over 13 divisional championship games against the Angels, Tigers and Indians in 2005, 2006 and 2007?

Remember Bill Buckner?

Reports are flying out of Arizona, where the Chicago Cubs are having their first winter management meetings with new owner Tom Ricketts, that apparently 2009 hasn't bottomed out just yet.

Apparently, the team's only All Star might be a question mark to begin the 2010 season.

That's right folks, it appears that Ted Lilly had arthroscopic surgery on his left (pitching) shoulder yesterday.  The Cubs aren't releasing a lot of details, obviously, but they did say they hope Lilly's ready "within the month of April."

Hollywood would be hard pressed to write a better script than the one we have today in real life.
