Houston Astros 3B Prospect Chris Johnson To Be Sent Down

After today’s game against the Red Legs, Chris Johnson was informed that he will be sent down to AAA Round Rock following the Astros contest against the Corpus Christi Hooks.

St. Louis Cardinals Preview: A Stronger Lineup Than It Seems

The Cardinals didn't lose any key players in the off season, and look to have a surprisingly strong starting lineup for opening day.

The lineup for opening day will be lacking the former all-star Troy Glaus, but he is expected to return sometime in May. So, at third base will most likely be David Freese, who according to the Cardinals staff, has had an exemplary spring training and preseason.

So let's go around the horn.

C: Yadier Molina.

1B: Albert Pujols.

2B: Skip Schumaker.

SS: Khalil Greene.

3B: David Freese.

LF: Chris Duncan.

Tampa Bay Rays a Favorite to Win World Series?

Many people dove on to the Tampa Bay Rays bandwagon last season, after having a breakout season. However, a lot of people think it was a fluke, was it? I don't think it was.

The Rays are a very young team with outstanding depth and talent, like rookie of the year, third baseman Evan Longoria.

He showed that rookies can have outstanding leadership, taking the Rays all the way to the World Series. With 27 home runs, and 85 RBI's, he was among a small list of rookies with numbers like that.

Here We Go Again: A.J. Burnett Tears Elbow Ligament

After A.J. Burnett was roughed up Sunday by the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates in his last spring start, the Yankees coaching staff was looking for answers.

Fans, players, and Yankee employees were seeking a catalyst to explain such a glaring deviance from an otherwise dominant spring.

Houston Astros Blowout the Cincinatti Reds, 7-2

Roy tossed fpur innings in his last start before the season opener (woohoo!) and Chris Johnson isn’t going out without a fight…even though, in reality, he doesn’t have a chance.

'Stros at the Plate

“Michael Bourn led off the third with a double, stole third and scored on a base hit by Kazuo Matsui. Darin Erstad knocked a solo homer in the sixth. Chris Johnson drove in a run with a triple in the seventh and scored on a Reggie Abercrombie sacrifice fly.”

Hayden Penn: R.I.P. Great Orioles Hope

The Hayden Penn Era in Baltimore will now officially never happen, as the once-prized right-hander, deemed “untouchable” by the Orioles during negotiations with the Marlins for a possible trade for A.J.

Toronto Blue Jays Release Former No. 1 Pick Matt Bush

If it already hasn't been confirmed that Matt Bush was a bust, then it was confirmed today.

Bush was released today by the Toronto Blue Jays, for violating their "no tolerance policy."

Bush, who is now a pitcher after being converted from shortstop, was released by the San Diego Padres on Feb. 12, 2009.

He was released after he was charged with allegedly assaulting seven high school lacrosse players.

Toronto acquired him a few days later.

Random Mid-Day Link Dump

I may have to run out of the house for most of the evening, so here's some links to keep you busy.

First, for a couple articles about something that has not been a bright spot the last few years, but may be taking a turn for the better, the Yankees' defense.

Red Sox's Beckett Sub-Par in Final Spring Outing before Opening Day

Josh Beckett was shaky in his final spring training start before the Red Sox's season opener against Tampa Bay this Sunday, allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk with just one strikeout.

This start was mainly a final tune-up for Beckett, nothing major. But the Sox's opening day starter takes every start as seriously as he would during the regular season.

Want To See Something Ugly?

Baseball begins this weekend, and I am in a fantasy league.

Played fantasy baseball for the first time last year, and think I finished last..or pretty darn near it.

I expect to keep that going this year.

MY fantasy team :

SP: Brandon Webb - Dude has been solid...one of my top players probably.
SP: Clayton Kershaw - Kid is a stud. Future ace...hoping he's ready now.
SP: Hiroki Kuroda - I have no idea what to expect from him.
