Yankees' Spring Training: Looking at Today's Battles

Game 31: Yankees win over the Braves 6-4

Today was an important day for some Yankee players. Some made a good impression and some didn’t. Some will remain on the team and some might get released. Let's look at the players battling for spots.

Milwaukee Brewers Turn 40: Top Ten Moments

2009 marks the 40th Anniversary of the Milwaukee Brewers in the MLB, as they moved from Seattle to the Brew City in prior to the 1970 season.

So I thought that I would share what I consider the top 10 moments in Brewers' history.

Now, I haven't been around since 1970, so I haven't seen (but I know about) every single thing about Brewers baseball, but I think all fans remember these moments vividly.

Here's to the 40 years of Brewers baseball, and hopefully 40 more.

Padres' Colors: Brown and Gold, or Other?

Padre fans: With a new owner taking charge here in San Diego, I think it's time for the team to look like themselves again.

The last 20 years have seen the Padres adopt the Mets' color scheme, the Dodgers' color scheme—so much so that the Pads had to wear their blue tops when the Dodgers came to town—and now the Brewers' color scheme.

Personally, I am sick of not being able to tell San Diego from Milwaukee at a glance.

Washington Nationals Quietly Developing Some Arms

The Washington Nationals might not have the most popular starting pitchers in Major League Baseball, but they have some of the most underated pitchers in all of baseball.

It seems like starting pitching was a major concern for the Nationals going into the 2009 season, as they picked up two starters who have a lot of potential and could be in for breakout seasons this coming year.

Scott Olsen and Daniel Cabrera were both key, under-the-radar type acquisitions who I could see putting up a solid season in 2009.

2009 Seattle Mariners Preview: Infield

We break down your 2009 Seattle Mariners position-by-position, with the start of the MLB regular season fast approaching.  In our first installment, we take a look at the infielders.

Projected Starters: 1B Russell Branyan; 2B Jose Lopez; 3B Adrian Beltre; SS Yuniesky Betancourt.

Bench: 2B/SS Ronny Cedeno.

Fighting for a spot: 1B Mike Sweeney; 1B Chris Shelton; 2B/SS Reegie Corona.

Do the Yankees Have a Succession Plan for Derek Jeter?

In the next year or two, the New York Yankees will have to decide on what to do with Derek Jeter.

And it looks like the decision is going to happen sooner than later, especially with Jeter's uninspired play in the World Baseball Classic.

Now, Yankee fans are going to argue that it is March and he's not in shape yet.

I find that hard to believe, considering that present day professional players are constantly making sure to keep in shape when coming in to camp.

Time To Finish the Job: 2009 Chicago Cubs Preview

After two years of playoff disappointment, the Chicago Cubs are gearing up for another World Series run. The Cubs are the most balanced team in the NL, if not, in all of baseball.

Last year as a team, the Cubs batted .278 and had and on-base-percentage of .354. As a staff, the Cubs had a 3.87 ERA.  All of these stratistics lead to them winning the NL Central for the second season in a row.  Here is a closer look at each of the positions for the Chicago Cubs.

Re-Earning Your Stripes: Previewing The 2009 Detroit Tigers

Much was expected from Detroit after Miguel Cabrera and Edgar Renteria were added in offseason trades, supposedly giving Jim Leyland a lineup capable of scoring 1,000 runs, but 2008 only produced 1,000 headaches for Leyland and the Tigers’ fans. The lineup wasn’t as good as advertised, but it wouldn’t have mattered if it had been.

2009 MLB Predictions: National League Edition

Disclaimer:This article is more mean't for humor with predictions thrown in, and yes the Mets will probably get called choke artists somewhere in the article. Sorry Metropolitan-Fans, but don't let a two year old swallow an orange or he, like the Mets, will choke.

Second verse, same as the first, only the Senior Circuit gets left to face my odd sense of humor.

Babe Ruth and the Boston Red Sox Team of 1915!

Forget those sun-faded glossy photos that are autographed by your favorite star, like A-Rod or Charles Barkley. You can now own real history, if you have the cash to put on the camera lens.

Memory Lane, Inc. (not that old fancy hamburger chain?) is selling off some of the artwork that adorned unknown walls over the years (not the Green Monster?). One item jumps out like the Curse of the Bambino come to life.
