The Kansas City Royals dodged questionable managerial decision-making, a rain delay and a fierce Toronto Blue Jays comeback to take Game 6 of the American League Championship Series, 4-3, and set up a World Series showdown with the New York Mets.

Now given a few days to digest their sweeping National League Championship Series victory, the New York Mets await either the Kansas City Royals or Toronto Blue Jays for the World Series, set to begin Tuesday.

It’s bad enough when your favorite team gets bounced from the playoffs.

The Kansas City Royals are going back to the World Series after topping the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 in Game 6 of the ALCS.

This year's Major League Baseball postseason is winding down, though there is still plenty to be decided. The New York Mets are awaiting the winner of the Toronto Blue Jays vs. Kansas City Royals series to determine which franchise will be crowned the American League champion.

The Royals can lock up their spot in the World Series Friday, while the Blue Jays need a win to force a winner-take-all seventh game at Kauffman Stadium Saturday. 

The Toronto Blue Jays will try to push the ALCS to a Game 7 when they are away to the Kansas City Royals on Friday night. Toronto pitcher David Price will be looking to silence critics and doubters not long after the scheduled 8:07 p.m. ET start time. 

The New York Mets completed a surprising sweep of the Chicago Cubs Wednesday night and continue to wait for the American League to finish its championship series and send an opponent to the World Series.

The Kansas City Royals are certainly in a better position on Friday afternoon, as they'll take a 3-2 lead over the Toronto Blue Jays at home into Game 6. If they win one of the final two games of the series, they will win their second consecutive American League pennant and play the Mets in the World Series.
