The 2015 World Series matchup will be set soon enough. After Wednesday's Championship Series action, one participant for the Fall Classic has been determined.

The numbers mean nothing, and yet they mean everything.

Nobody who knows anything would say that David Price can't pitch in the postseason, but by now just about everybody knows Price hasn't won in the postseason—not once, at least not as a starter.

Seven career starts. Seven losses.

“Growing up, I spent what seemed like thousands of summer afternoons in my backyard in Chesapeake, Virginia, pretending I was playing in the World Series,” Mets captain David Wright was saying, dream firmly in hand, just after he had reached out and seized it late Wednesday night. “Then the last out, you realize the next game you’re going to play will be a World Series game.”

Regular-season Daniel Murphy is an OK player. Pretty good, even. If we really want to stretch, we can say he might even be quite good.

But postseason Daniel Murphy? He's something else, man. Just going off the evidence, he's a historic postseason slugger who's basically the same thing as peak Barry Bonds*.

*In a good way.

To no one's surprise, New York Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy was named the 2015 National League Championship Series MVP on Wednesday.

For the first time since the turn of the century, the New York Mets are heading to the World Series.

Steven Matz allowed one run over 4.2 innings, Daniel Murphy continued his ascent to October superstardom with a four-hit night and Lucas Duda drove in five runs as the Mets earned an 8-3 win over the Chicago Cubs to advance to the 2015 Fall Classic.

On July 2, the New York Mets lost their seventh game in seven tries against the Chicago Cubs and saw their record drop to a mediocre 40-40. On Wednesday, Oct. 21, the New York Mets completed a National League Championship Series sweep of those same Chicago Cubs with an 8-3 victory and earned a spot in the World Series for the first time since 2000.

Talk about a turnaround.

And of course, it was in true Rookie of the Year style.

Nobody likes to lose, and getting swept, as the Chicago Cubs were by the New York Mets in the National League Championship Series, only makes losing sting that much more. While feelings of disappointment are to be expected, there shouldn't be a Cubs fan moping around the streets of Chicago.
