Phillies-Yankees World Series: Just Icing on Cake for Mets

As if the winter could get any colder.

The Mets will enter the offseason and free agency period with their two biggest rivals, the Yankees and the Phillies, sitting atop the baseball universe. The Phillies clinched their second straight National League pennant on Wednesday, defeating the Dodgers in the NLCS in five games. The Yankees were able to clinch their first American League pennant since 2003 last night, defeating the Angels 5-2 to take the series in six games.

Meanwhile, all the Mets can do is watch.

Does Aubrey Huff Make Sense for the New Mets?

With the news coming out over the weekend that the Detroit Tigers do not intend on bringing back slugger, Aubrey Huff , next season; the Mets now have another potential candidate to play first base next season.

My Thoughts On The 2010 New York Mets: Second Base

Last off-season, second basemen, Orlando Hudson let everyone know that he would love to play for the New York Mets. Sadly enough, he did not come to the Big Apple in 2009.

Instead, he headed over to Los Angeles to play with the Dodgers. The Mets were stuck with aging Luis Castillo. Many Mets fans were getting on Castillo. Bad things were expected from him in 2009.

He proved us wrong, but not until he proved us right. After he made his famous dropped pop up in the Yankees vs Mets game that allowed the Yankees to win the game, he turned it on.

Review of Citi Field for Stadium Journey

Much has been said about the Mets and their move into brand new Citi Field this past spring.

There have already been many memorable moments both there and at their former residence, Shea Stadium, and I hope you enjoy reading my review.

My husband and I attended the September 20, 2009 game at Citi Field.

This review was originally published on Stadium Journey.com which contains reviews for MLB and NFL stadiums.

Why Do New York Mets Fans Love Daniel Murphy?

Maybe it's me.

Maybe I'm missing something. Maybe I didn't watch the same Mets games as other Mets fans this year. Maybe I wasn't watching the same Daniel Murphy that everyone else was this past season. That's the only way I can explain how I seem to be the only Mets fan on the planet that believes Murphy should not be the Mets first baseman in 2010.

My Thoughts On The 2010 New York Mets: First Base

First base is a power position.  First basemen such as, Albert Pujols, Ryan Howard, Adrian Gonzalez, Mark Teixeira, and many more are among the top home run hitters in the league.

The Mets did not have much power last year.  Albert Pujols singlehandily had more home runs than the whole Mets' team.

The Mets' new stadium, Citi Field was brought up by many as the reason why the Mets suffered this huge power outage in the 2009 season.  I don't believe it is, because the Mets had one more home run at home then away this season.

The 2010 Mets: Picking Up the Pieces and Filling the Holes

The dust has finally settled from this debacle of a season in Queens, NY, and needless to say, the Mets have plenty of work to do.

Sure the team was decimated by injuries, but even when healthy, this team has plenty of holes to fill if it plans on being a championship contender in 2010.

Sorry, NY Mets Fans, I Will Be Rooting for the Phillies If They Play the Yankees

I never thought that I would say this, but I will be rooting for the Phillies, should they go up against the Yankees in the World Series next week.

Please don't get me wrong, I am not happy about the potential for Philadelphia to earn their second straight World Series Championship.

I would have preferred either Colorado or Los Angeles to have the opportunity to play in the World Series, but it is what it is, the Phillies are one win away from the NL Pennant.

Ex-Met Pitcher, Hernandez, No Longer Livanin' The High Life

It seems 2009 has been a year to forget for former-Met Livan Hernandez , from a personal standpoint.

I had reported back in August that Hernandez was being sued over damage done to a rental car.

Unfortunately, now the pitcher’s troubles have hit closer to home…literally.

The Cure for Queens: Part 1 - The Symptoms

Given the centrality of health-care in the current political debates and the key role injuries played in the New York Mets logging yet another disappointing year into the history books, assessing the condition of the Mets heading into 2010 in terms of diagnosis is only appropriate.
