Rumor Has It: Yankees and Mets to Meet and Discuss Ticket Prices

(For the record: this photo was chosen so illustrate the empty seats. Ironic, isn't it? Mark Teixeira, the big off-season acquisition who cost more money than half of baseball's payrolls is overshadowed by the lack of people willing to spend the money to see him.)

Trade Possibility: Matt Holliday to the Yanks

I know this is a bit premature, but around the trade deadline when Matt Holliday is available, what do you give up for him?

The A's love young, major league-ready prospects and the asking price might be high. So if you're the Yankees, who do you give up for the prized left fielder?

A factor that needs to be considered when trying to acquire Holliday is that if you give up premium talent for him, you need to be able to sign him to a long term deal.

New York Yankees-Boston Red Sox: Baseball's Regional Rumble Resumes

Just 15 games into the 2009 season, the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox renew their rivalry with a three-game series at Fenway Park in glorious summer-like weather beginning on Friday.

But, does anyone outside the Northeast Corridor care?

This weekend’s series is taking a backseat to the NFL Draft, but I am fascinated by what could happen between these teams.

Is It the Wind Tunnel Or Jorge's Catching?

There’s someone that works for the state of New Jersey that I know and he always comes to visit me to see how I’m doing, since I’m disabled. We’ll talk about me for about five minutes and then the next 20 minutes we’ll talk about the Yankees. He’s a big Yankee fan.

He doesn’t think Jorge is a good defensive catcher. He thinks he is terrible. I didn’t think anything of what he was saying until he told me to check out stats of when Jorge starts to when Jose Molina starts. I did check out the stats.

Yankees-Red Sox: Series Preview

The biggest rivalry in all of sports continues tomorrow night. The Yankees will visit Fenway Park for the first time this season, and the Red Sox will use their home-field advantage attempting to come out of the series ahead in the standings.

New York Yankees Forget They Need Television Cameras

This has got to be one of the more bizarre stories in broadcast television history. Of course it has to involve the New York Yankees, their new stadium with a reported 1,000 obstructed view seats, and an overzealous security guard.

Yankees Win: Thoughts From the Game

This is nothing new, but I have some thoughts from today's game:

Melky Cabrera hit two home runs, and has hit very well in his limited at bats. He's proven that he can't sustain this over a full season, but he makes a great bench player. He is a good pinch-runner, good fielder, and knows how to hit, even if he's not a solid everyday hitter. Plus, he's young and cheap.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game: More is Less at the New Yankee Stadium

“Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd;
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don't care if I never get back.
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win, it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game.”

That famous song, by Jack Norworth (I bet you did not know that, and I am impressed if you did) is sung in the middle of seventh innings from early March to late October in ball parks all over the United States.

Yankees Win and My Impression on Sabathia's Start

The New York Yankees beat the Oakland Athletics 9-7 in 14 innings because of a walk off home run by Melky Cabrera. CC Sabathia started and did not pitch well. He gave up seven runs on six hits in 6.2 innings of work for the no decision.

Melky Cabrera: The Melk Man Delivers in Extras

In a game that should have been won in the seventh inning, Melky Cabrera homered twice—his second being a walk-off homer in the 14th inning.  It's hard to remember that CC Sabathia started the game, but he did, and was less than impressive.  The win makes it three straight heading into Boston for the first of 18 games in the season series.
