New York Yankees

New York Yankees

Ex-Buckeye Nick Swisher Is Becoming a Fan Favorite.

He looks like a 30 year old league softball player from the Midwest. He has that John Kruk, Lenny Dykstra look about him. The kind of guy millions of American guys can relate to. That is part of what makes him so popular.

He is Nicholas Thompson "Nick" Swisher, a 29 year old switch hitting first baseman/ outfielder for the New York Yankees.

Nick was born in Columbus, Ohio and was raised in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

" A-Rod." Part Two Of The Steroid Saga That Is Known As Alex Rodriguez

The 2009 baseball season has started off with a splash. Thus far many teams have had good starts to this season, such as the Marlins and Blue Jays who have had solid hitting and good quality pitching.

Then we have the New York Yankees. The most active team this offseason; thus far their big time acquisitions haven't been up to the caliber of the 26 time world champions.

Sabathia and Burnett have not been able to lead a predicted top five rotation in the league.

Questions about Wang and his injury, as well as Joba's future in bullpen does raise eyebrows.

Scott Boras Must See Empty New Yankee Stadium Seats in His Nightmares

"Oh [expletive]."

That's what I'd be thinking if I were a sports agent right now—more specifically, an agent representing one of Major League Baseball's forthcoming crop of free agents.

The problem might be just the same in the other major American sports, but it's baseball season, so I'm talking small ball.

Joba Chamberlain's Intensity Reborn: Troubles Quickly Transition into Fist Pumps

After loading the bases in the fourth inning, Joba Chamberlain appeared one pitch away from a disastrous outing.

Chamberlain had already walked three batters, thrown just 43 percent of his pitches for strikes, and trailed 1-0.

One Middling Month Does Nothing To Quell CC Sabathia's Awesomeness

With the boo-birds out in full force over CC Sabathia’s slow start to his first season as a Yankee, baseball fans prove that they can always be counted on to completely miss the point.

Rather than go into a tirade about how stupid everybody is, let’s just take a look at CC’s splits from last season, first his performance though April and then for the rest of the season:

Memo to Fans: CATCH THE BALL!

With all the talk of new stadiums and owners' greed in the New York area recently, a fast-growing problem is flying under the radar. I am talking about, of course, fans who can't catch.

When Fernando Tatis's home run went to the replay booth Wednesday afternoon, it marked the second time in a month that New York fans found themselves the victim of one of these butterfingered rooters.

For some reason, stadium designers love to give the fans the opportunity to reach out and possibly interfere with the ball.

New York Yankees: The First Twenty Games

From The Voice of Yankees Universe, nyyankeesrumors.com.

One thing I’ve learned from watching the Yankees: you can’t get too high and you can’t get too low. It’s all about the balance. The ying-yang. Homeostasis. You get the idea.

Yankees-Tigers: Explosive Seventh Inning, Hughes Leads to Win

Scoring only a combined three runs over the last two games, the New York Yankees finally broke out of their offensive struggles and defeated the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night, winning by a score of 11-0 and snapping a four-game losing skid.

Scoreless up until the top of the seventh inning, the Yankees exploded for 10 runs in the inning, breaking out and taking command of the game.

Phil Hughes Plays Hero Role In Big Yankees Win

Phil Hughes couldn't of been better in his return to the big league roster in his first start of the season after being recalled from Triple A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The New York Yankees, beat up and injured, were fading fast and needed a big win to stop the streak.  They got it from Hughes.

Hughes, who has replaced the injured Chien-Ming Wang in the rotation for now, wants to let everyone know he is in the rotation to stay.

He pitched six strong innings only giving up two hits, along with six strikeouts and no runs against a tough Detroit Tigers lineup.

Bernie Williams, Come Back!

Please, Bernie Williams, come back to New York City.  You can play.  You are in shape, and the fans will love you.

It will be very, very good for the organization.

You will help all of the outfielders improve their fielding.

Also, with a fight for the starting center field job, you will push youngster Brett Gardner, who is in need of a push.

Don't worry, we won't tease you for your noodle arm—compared to Johnny Damon, you have an Ichiro arm.
