It was a curious week for the Boston Red Sox, even if the biggest news to trickle out of Fenway Park was an announcement regarding bullpen walls.

Down south, a division rival appeared content to reassemble the Sox, circa 2004—Tampa's offer to Mark Bellhorn has yet to be confirmed, by the way—while in New York, the general manager publicly panned the team's most significant offseason maneuver.

With 2010 being "The Year of the Pitcher" it seemed high time someone threw together a list of the nastiest pitches from the season. 

This list isn't based on any statistical evidence, merely on my opinion and observations. 

Credit for my inspiration for this list goes to Joel Reuter who compiled a similar list in 2009.

A lot has gone on in New York Yankee Universe since losing to the Texas Rangers in the 2010 ALCS and handing the title of "reigning champions" over to the San Francisco Giants.
 
So, how are the 2011 New York Yankees looking heading into the season? Let’s take a look.

It’s hard to believe, with all the snow we’ve gotten here in the Northeast, that spring training is just a few weeks away. As a fan of the New York Yankees, this hasn’t been the best of offseasons, so I would like nothing more than to fast forward to mid-February to see how the team is going to answer all of the questions that haunt them right now.

Prince Fielder is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.

Despite 54 home runs, 124 RBI,  and a fourth place finish in the American League MVP voting, there's still no love for this guy. 

Despite Jose Bautista's career year with Toronto Blue Jays, filled with career highs and team records and the infamous distinction for biggest home run differential from one year to the next, his 2010 campaign is being treated as an aberration. 

When Jack Zduriencik was hired as the General Manager for the Seattle Mariners, it was considered a savvy baseball move. 

Seattle was in the middle of an ongoing rebuilding process, and Zduriencik was known for his prospect scouting and talent evaluation. He was the perfect guy to try to repair the damage done by Bill Bavasi.

There are rumors swirling around the Baltimore Orioles this weekend that there is an imminent deal involving them and free-agent designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero.  Vlad is a solid hitter when he is healthy, but he is about to turn 36 years old and would be the opposite of the direction these Orioles are going in terms of age.  Not to mention, they already have Luke Scott at DH and a crowded outfield situation, so unless they plan to trade Luke Scott there really isn't a place on the roster for him.
