Their Mistake: Faulty MLB All-Star Rosters Results From Players' Poor Choices

First off, let me preface the rest of this post by saying that I am vehemently opposed to requiring that each team have a representative in the MLB All-Star game.

Omission Impossible: The Most Glaring MLB All-Star Game Selection Mistakes

Here are two MLB players, A and B, and their numbers through the first half of the season:

A is batting .311 in 56 games, with one home run, 22 RBIs, and 3 stolen bases. He has a .343 OBP and a .378 SLG, giving him a .721 OPS.

B is batting .312 in 77 games, with 19 home runs, 57 RBIs, and 7 stolen bases. He has a .412 OBP and a .572 SLG, giving him a .984 OPS.

MLB Trade Rumors: Corey Hart is Perfect For the San Francisco Giants

While Brewer fans and management go back-and-forth on the merits of dealing Prince Fielder away for young, controllable pitching, there is little to no room for debate on Corey Hart.

Hart was named to his second All-Star team on Sunday, and is on pace to have the best season of his career. The Brewers need to sell high on Hart, and begin to bring good pitching to Milwaukee. The San Francisco Giants are the perfect counterpart to make such a deal happen, and each team would benefit from making a deal as soon as possible.

The Heartbreaking Story of Dontrelle Willis

From the moment I watched my first game of baseball, I was mesmerized by the importance of the pitcher. To win games you need to have a consistent pitcher, something that Dontrelle Willis wasn't for the Detroit Tigers or the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Dontrelle Willis was the most exciting lefty pitcher to watch from 2003 to 2007, when he played for the Florida Marlins.

With the Florida Marlins he played magnificently, winning the Rookie of the Year and leading the Marlins to their second World Series title in 2003.

CC Sabathia: New York Yankees Ace and MLB's Next 300 Game Winner.

When he first came into the league as a 20-year-old, starting in the back of the rotation for the Cleveland Indians, many people said that CC Sabathia needed to lose weight if he wanted to be successful in the major leagues. He tried that.

A few years later, when he didn't get the calls that he felt should go his way, and threw immature tantrums on the mound, many other people said that Sabathia needed to mature as an individual before he could succeed in the major leagues. He did that.

MLB All-Star Game Snubs

It's that time of year again: selection Sunday. And of course, fans everywhere are questioning the roster choices.

I consider being placed on the final ballot a snub, because there's an 80 percent chance they won't make it.

Here's who was snubbed for the 2010 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

Inside The Detroit Tigers' All-Star Game Selections and Snubs

Miguel Cabrera and Jose Valverde will represent the Detroit Tigers in the 2010 Midsummer Classic.

Cabrera narrowly lost out to for the starting position at first base to Justin Morneau of the Minnesota Twins. Through Saturday night's game against the Mariners, Cabrera had a .338 batting average, 20 HR and 68 RBIs.

Cabrera is most likely the last remaining hitter with a chance at the American League triple crown this season. He ranks in the top five in batting average, runs batted in and home runs.

MLB All-Star Game 2010: Cincinnati Reds' Joey Votto Deserves Final Spot For NL

Three Reds were named to the All-Star Game Sunday night.

It was a proud moment for a team that isn't used to having an abundance of all-stars, but the name that was left off made it bittersweet.

Reds' first baseman Joey Votto was not on the final National League roster, despite being in the top five in the NL in all three major statistical categories, with a .312 average, 19 home runs, and 57 RBI.

Forget Cliff Lee, Mets Must Bolster Bullpen Via Trade

With the Mets starting rotation in a groove right now, all eyes are becoming trained on what could be a more pressing issue. The bullpen has gradually begun to cost the Mets games. The issue has flown under the radar because of the propensity of fans to attack the pitching of Johan Santana and to focus too much on acquiring a big time starter like Cliff Lee; a move that might not even be possible.

Brandon Phillips: Why You Must Sell High on the Cincinnati Reds' Second Baseman

Through 82 team games (324 at-bats) this season, Reds’ second baseman Brandon Phillips is tied with Boston’s Kevin Youkilis for the major league lead in runs, with 62.

Phillips also has 10 homers and 10 steals at the mid-way point, putting him on pace for his fourth consecutive 20/20 season.
