The season is long and right now it's coming down to the wire for the top owners in their respective leagues.  These few players that are poised for either a huge week or a week you will want to avoid.  Pay attention, this could mean winning or not winning your league.

The NL Wire – A look into some worthy roster additions

In a lot of ways, the Oakland Athletics have already had a very successful 2010.

The campaign isn't over by any means—with more than 50 games yet to be played, anything and everything can still happen.

However, the A's sit nine and a half games off the American League West pace set by the division-leading Texas Rangers. With the Texas in town for the weekend, they have a chance to shave some of that margin and they'd better.

Because they're even further behind in the AL Wild Card race.

The 2010 MLB offseason definitely will be known as one of the busiest in terms of managerial moves and firings. Some the of the games best might call it quits and it will certainly be the end of an era in baseball. 

We've already had a pair of managers who seem very much safe in the Royals' Ned Yost and Orioles' Buck Showalter.

Come Opening Day 2011, we will have seen a 60 percent of the managers from the 2010 Opening Day, an amazing and shocking drop from 40 percent. 

Every team has to deal with injuries.

During 2010, no team has had to deal with a greater number of injuries and illnesses than the Boston Red Sox, culminating Wednesday when it was announced that Gold Glove first baseman Kevin Youkilis, arguably the team's most important player, was to have season-ending surgery on his right thumb.

Considering the injuries this season, it is incredible that the Sox have been able to remain in touching distance of the league leading Yankees and Rays.

There have been many pitchers who are in the running for AL Cy young this season.

The AL Cy Young is an award to goes to the best pitcher in the AL based on wins, ERA, innings pitched, and WHIP.

In this list I will say the top 5 candidates for this great award in the AL. I hope you enjoy and comment with your opinion!

As I’m sure you know, today’s major league pitchers can barely hit a lick. 

The rise of the designated hitter, not only in the American League but also it’s wide-spread use in the minors and in the college game, is perhaps the biggest factor for the demise of pitchers who cannot hit. But it’s hardly the only one.

Being a major league manager is a very tough job. You have to do stuff like make the lineup card every day, you have to pick what pitcher to start on a certain day, and you have to choose what player should come out of the bullpen at a certain time. It is stressfull and it is very hard to do it day and day out. These managers have not done a good job at all and in this list I will say the managers who will most likely be fired or who should be fired before this season is over. This list is not in a certain order it is just the managers who should be fired. I hope you enjoy!

With only a few more months to go before a champion is crowned, the 2010 season is winding down. As always, there are those players who have outplayed their current contract and those players who haven't lived up to the millions of dollars that they are being paid.

Problems with age, injuries, and plain-old ineffectiveness are some reasons why these players made the list. It may not be fair to pick on someone who has battled injuries, but the club still has to pay the salary regardless if they are hurt or not. 

As the MLB season trudges along through the late months of the summer, the CY Young candidates in the National League are becoming clearer by the day. 

All five of the guys that I have selected are currently tops in the National League in wins, strikeouts, ERA, and innings pitched.

Tim Lincecum has won the award the past two seasons, but the way it looks he will not win his third consecutive.
