Relief pitching in the 1950s was much different than the relief pitching of today.

It was still the general ideology of managers that the good arms were in the starting rotation and the duds were in the bullpen.

In a way it was true. However, the relief pitchers on this list broke that rule, they could flat out pitch.

Having said that, there weren’t many career relief pitchers in this decade and many of them had seasons where they were a starting pitcher and even had spot starts during their relief seasons.

It’s never too early to hit up a struggling owner in your league to try to fleece him or her out of a struggling player to help your team down the road. Here are some guys to target.

It’s the end of the second week of the 2010 Major League Baseball season.

Production this week was near empty for these sluggers. Each of them is desperately trying to find a repairman for his mechanics.

1) OF Colby Rasmus, STL

The Cardinal outfielder has been suffering. Hitless in his last 15 plate appearances, Rasmus could only provide a single walk to help his team this week.

Rasmus had a .000 AVG this past week, which dropped his season total to .179 AVG.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that Clevelanders love to complain.

We certainly have just cause: with rampant unemployment and poverty, miserable weather, and heartbreaking sports teams, Forbes recently named us the most miserable city in America.

But as I listened to the increasingly drunk fans sitting behind me at Progressive Field the other night (they were pretty loud, it was kind of hard not to), I realized that some of their beefs really didn't hold water.

Some of their complaints were about things that were preventable, others were hypocritical, and the rest were simply stupid.

It is the reason why they play the game, with the ultimate goal to win the World Series, get the ring and hold the trophy. There have been 105 teams which declared themselves champions, not by a poll of writers voting them champions, but by beating every challenger on the diamond.

Many times teams theans were invincible, like the 1927 Yankees, who dominated the American League season, winning the league by a then-record 19 games.

As a hitter, there's no worse feeling in baseball than knowing you're going to come to the plate to face a man who you know will dominate you with one pitch.

As you adjust your batting gloves and dig in, you know that you're going to flail wildly, but that there's nothing you can do about it.

The proof is in the pudding.

With the 2010 season less than two weeks old, this seems kind of premature, well, unless you're me than you're chomping at the bit to put a list together like this.

There are several managers that should be on this list, maybe more than 10 but we'll stick to 10 and see where that leads us.

Today we check in with the Rays' minor league affiliates and see what they’ve done to this point in the season. After only 10 games, we've seen one player called up from Durham (catcher John Jaso) and there already seems to be at least one other player that could play his way onto the big league team. We'll take a look at each affiliate and focus on the highlights and lowlights of the early-going.
