Today is the 63rd anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking baseball’s color barrier. April 15, 1947 is arguably the most historic date in baseball history because of the monumental event that day. Robinson’s courage and accomplishments on and off the field not only changed the landscape of baseball, but society as well.

However, exactly five years earlier on April 15, 1942, Hiram “Hi” Bithorn became the first Puerto Rican to appear in a major league game. He pitched in relief for the Chicago Cubs in a 4-2 loss to St. Louis at Sportsman’s Park.

No doubt, it's been a rough week for the Baltimore Orioles. The roughest.

Blown saves, surrendering four leads after the 8th inning, struggling with men in scoring position. It's been downright ugly.

Luckily, things have been far more optimistic down on the farm, where the O's have had several sensational starts from their standout prospects.

To pick four players from the history of baseball is what impossible looks like.

To even start, you would have to define the list. In baseball, the difference between position players and pitchers is enormous.

When Curt Schilling started Game 6 of the 2004 ALCS and beat the Yankees, was their a better baseball player than him on that day?

Probably not but that does not mean I am going to carve his face into a mountain.

Babe Ruth might be the greatest baseball player ever but he played in a different era.

The season is barely a week old and some teams have already dug themselves a deep hole, while others have leaped out of the gate.

The new faces are still adjusting to their teams. The rookies are still in need of a pinch to remind them they have arrived.

There have been plenty of defeat's, distraction's and doubt's. But remember...there is still 155 games to go!

After years of hoping and waiting and anticipation, the Minnesota Twins finally have their new ballpark-Target Field. The Twins, who played under the roof of The Metrodome for 27 years, now have a beautiful open-air ballpark for their fans and for the team itself.

The Twins kicked off the franchise's new era in a nationally televised 5-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox. Baseball fans across the country got to see all that makes Target Field a unique, attractive place to watch a ballgame and a place Twins fans can call their own.

Before Hideki Matsui signed a one year, $6.5 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels, he had never known a major league team other than the New York Yankees.

The reasons that Matsui left New York; injury concerns, payroll, age, meant nothing to the bleacher creatures who worshipped him at the height of his outfield playing days in the Bronx.

After a tough first week that saw them go 2-4 on a six-game road trip, the Chicago Cubs came home to the Friendly Confines of Wrigley Field to face the Milwaukee Brewers in their 2010 home opener Monday. Behind starter Ryan Dempster, the Cubbies earned a 9-5 victory.

New Cub Xavier Nady, getting a start in right field against Milwaukee's left-handed starter Doug Davis, broke a third-inning tie when he belted a three-run home run, and Chicago never looked back.

One of the biggest stories of this young baseball season has been the play of 20-year phenom and NL Rookie of the Year candidate Jason Heyward of the Braves.

Every team hopes to strike gold and draft the next superstar player, and when a player comes out and dominates in his first season, it always seems to garner a great deal of attention.

With that, I have decided to name what I feel are the top ten rookie seasons in baseball history.

This is a weekly focus on the hurlers that dominated their adversaries. These pitchers put up nasty numbers this week and made big league hitters wish they were playing T-Ball again.
