Six Rare Baseball Feats That Have Occured Twice in a Season

We've officially had two perfect games this season, and really we've had three.

How shocking is that?

Before 2010, Major League Baseball had only seen 18 perfect games - 16 if you don't count the two in 1880, during an era in which baseball was very different from its post-1901 incarnation.

To have two (three) perfect games in one year defies logic and common sense. But sometimes these things happen.

Take a look.

Yankees Notes: A-Rod, Mitre, Logan, JB Cox, Winfree

The CC Sabathia-Roy Halladay faceoff didn’t end up being the pitcher’s duel it was billed to be. The Yankees tagged Halladay for three home runs and Sabathia struggled with consistency as the Yanks won 8-3 to stay in first place.

Here are some notes:

The Fantasy Fix's Week 11 Two-Start Pitchers & Stephen Strasburg

Fantasy Baseball’s Pitching Line of the Week:

Stephen Strasburg (SP-WAS)  7 IP, 4H, 2R, 0 BB, 14 K, W

The long awaited Major League debut of Stephen Strasburg is officially over. The dust has settled, but some fans have yet to pick their chins off of the ground from the amazement that was a dominating fourteen strikeout performance.

Just the Medicine: Roy Halladay Will Be Key to Phillies-Yankees Series

We all know the Phillies' recent struggles—the inconsistent bats and the flat-out lack of offensive production.

Philadelphians have been in a shroud of disbelief over the team's current struggles, what with the Flyers' recent success clouding their thoughts, and have ignored the team and brushed off the much-needed panic.

Some call it a slump, some call it midseason woes, but if they Phillies don't right the ship quickly, we can all call it missing out on the playoffs.

Pitching Preview: Champs vs. Phillies

It’s the 2009 World Series all over again as the Yankees host the Phillies for three games in the Bronx.

The last time the Phillies were in town, the Yankees became world champions—a feeling Yankees fans hope to relive by beating the Phillies once again.

Both line-ups are stacked with power, from Utley to Posada.

The Philadelphia Phillies' Best Pitchers of 2010

As we all know, 2010 is being called the "Year of the Pitchers." With names like Stephen Strasburg and Ubaldo Jimenez popping up all over the place, how are the Philadelphia Phillies pitchers stacking up?

The Doc Is Making a House Call: Roy Halladay Set To Square Off With CC Sabathia

Just when you thought that you would never see him again after being traded to Philly this past offseason, Roy Halladay returns to clash with the Yankees in the Bronx.

Halladay is not the same as he was last year either, he's better.

Heading into tomorrow's game, his record stands at 8-4 to the tune of a 1.96 ERA, along with his 85 strikeouts and 14 walks.

And as many Yankee fans know, Halladay has done quite well to holding the Bombers down in the past, with an 18-6 record and 2.84 career ERA against the Yankees.

NL Cy Young Power Rankings: Anyone With a Shot Besides the Main Two?

We are now two months into the season. While we are still a long way from the end of the season, those players who are in the MVP and Cy Young races are beginning to fall into place.

In the Cy Young races in particular, there are many candidates who are certainly worthy of the title with how they have been pitching so far. In the National League, there are 16 or so people that should be in the top ten.

Roy Halladay's Perfect Game: Marlins Offering Tickets to Baseball History

Are you a Roy Halladay fan?

Would you like a ticket to his perfect game?

Well, you are in luck, 'cause the Marlins organization is selling the remaining tickets.

Earlier today, the Fighting Fish announced that they were going to be selling the remaining tickets that were left from Halladay's historic performance.

How many tickets are left, you may ask?

Takin' a T/O with BT: Roy Halladay's Well-Deserved Moment in the Sun

I wasn’t around for the first out, but I wouldn’t miss the last three for anything in the world.

In fact, I was prepared to put up with a digital, pitch-by-pitch re-enactment until the Phillies’ website went to live video of it for free.

Not bad for today’s “make you pay” society. The only thing it cost me was the long distance charges to call home and give my dad the play-by-play.
