St Louis Cardinals

Albert Pujols has been the model of consistency in Major League Baseball for the last decade. Regarded as one of the best hitters of his generation, Pujols is an amazing offensive talent—a great slugger who also hits for contact and rarely strikes out.

Combine that with good defense as a first baseman and you have one awesome baseball player.

He is a solid postseason player too, leading the St. Louis Cardinals to the World Series twice (2004, 2006) and winning once (2006).

If you're a Cardinals fan, then April was awesome.

And if you're a Cardinals fan and thought April was awesome, then May is the exact opposite of April.

The phrase "Cardinals Fever...Catch It" should be something closer to "Cardinals Fever...Penicillin's Your Best Bet."

Characteristics: Many amorous cardinal couples enjoy singing duets before renewing their quarter-mile-high-club memberships. It has been hypothesized that their singing helps to synchronize reproduction.

This list is to cover the best first basemen since 1980, but it's also going to take out the misconception that the first basemen is just a power source and defensively it's OK that some of these players are defensive liabilities.

The following slides are my selections for the St. Louis Cardinals All-Time Fantasy Baseball Team.

With the recent breaking news that shed light on yet another MLB star taking a banned substance, I felt the need to try and stay positive and remind people what they are seeing in Albert Pujols.

Albert Pujols is shattering records left and right, and if he remains healthy will undoubtedly set the home run record currently tainted by Barry Bonds.

These pitchers, in no particular order, are hot/not in my eyes.

When you hear the word "baseball", what do you think of?

Chances are, very few people think about their favorite pitcher from the Savannah Sand Gnats, their hero from the Toledo Mud Hens, or the thrill of watching the Triple A All-Star Game up close and in person.

The NL Central was supposed to belong to the Chicago Cubs. They were the ones with the loaded lineup and enough pitching to carry them to another division crown.

A month into the season, there is a team with a loaded lineup and pitching to back it up, but instead of Cubbie Blue, this team wears Cardinal Red.

Currently at 17-8, the Cardinals have ridden the torrid start of reigning MVP Albert Pujols. With nine home runs, many believe Pujols is more focused than ever before.

In the second edition of the Jordan Schafer PlayerCast, I will profile the three-game series against the St Louis Cardinals.

I will include pivitol at bats (runners on, leading off, etc.) and his statline for the series.
