A.J. Burnett Just May Be The Yankees' Best Offseason Signing

A.J. Burnett was always a thorn in the Yankees' side.

While with Toronto, Burnett continually shut the Yankees down, causing their hitters to look more like a bunch of little leaguers than professionals.

When Burnett chose to become a free agent after the 2008 season, a lot of people thought that the Yankees shouldn't go after him. Burnett has been plagued by a lot of injuries throughout his career. The last thing the Yankees needed was another pitcher with a high probability of landing on the DL.

Yankees-Indians: My Opinion on Sabathia and the Loss

The New York Yankees lost to the Cleveland Indians by a score of 10-2. CC Sabathia started but got a no decision. CC Sabathia pitched 5.2 innings. Jose Veras got the loss.

This is not the outcome us Yankee fans wanted in the new stadium. It could have been a historic game for the Yankees for about six innings, but the seventh changed all that.

25 Greatest Sportscenter Commercials No. 25 through 11.

If there is one thing all sports fans can truly agree on, it’s that the ‘This is Sportscenter’ commercials produced by ESPN are possibly the best commercials on television. I am not ashamed to admit that I spend large amounts of time just sitting on my computer, watching old Sportscenter commercials from time to time. So I decided to take on the daunting task of coming up with the best of the best, of the Sportscenter commercials.

Breakdown: The End Of Jose?

Yesterday, I posted what turned out to be an ill-fated article on what appeared to be a resurgent and resiliant Jose Contreras.

In his third inning of work, I watched him put a man on second and third with no outs and proceed to get out of this jam with ease and style. Alas, this would be the end of an impressive outing and a seemingly miraculous comeback from a potentially career-ending injury.

After leaving the game in the sixth, his line read 5.1 innings, 5 ER, 2 BB.

So, was this a one-off?

Steroids on Baseball and Society

<!--StartFragment-->

This was a research paper I had to write for my ENC 1145 class. Its quite lengthy but it is very interesting. The topic was to pick a source that satirizes something and analyze the satirical elements. I received an A on this paper and A's are hard to come by in this class. I chose the episode of South Park where they made fun of steroids in baseball and well, here it is:

Yankees open with a Dud

The New York Yankees got hammered today in the home opener ten to two.

CC Sabathia grinded through 5 2/3 innings and left the game with a one to one score.

The trouble came in the seventh when Jose Veras and Damaso Marte just blew up giving up nine runs. Jose Veras gave up three runs and Marte gave up six runs.

Yankees-Indians: Bullpen Spoils New Yankee Stadium Opener

On Sept. 21, 2008, the Yankees defeated the Orioles 7-3 at the last game ever played at the old Yankee Stadium.  However, the Yankees couldn't get it together in the first game at the new Yankee Stadium opener against the Indians.  Despite being tied at one a side going into the seventh inning, the Yanks bullpen imploded in the seventh, and the home team lost 10-2.

Nady Could Be Out for Season

According to Peter Abraham of the Journal News, Xavier Nady’s elbow injury could mean the end of his Yankee career, as an MRI revealed a tear in his elbow and is likely to require surgery.

Visit George's House: An itinerary to the New Yankee Stadium

Take the train to the game, as it’s part of the Big Apple game-day experience, and convenient too, dropping you off right outside the park. Once you get your bearings, take a lap around the new Yankee Stadium to take it all in; the exterior more resembles the stadium Ruth played in than the just-closed version, which had been almost completely reconstructed in the 1970s.

Faces In the Crowd: Foul Ball Edition

When you’re lucky enough to grab front row seats at Busch Stadium along the first base line, it means you’ll be only a few feet from what is likely the best player to wear the Birds on the Bat since Stan Musial.

While it can be exciting just being within shouting distance of a Cardinal legend, when that same legend comes charging toward your seat chasing a foul ball, things get taken up a notch.  And when things get taken up a notch in the stands, it’s "Faces In the Crowd time…"
