Coming off Sunday night’s action during this Memorial Day weekend, the first quarter of the MLB regular season is now in the books, with all 30 teams logging at least 40 games. While some of the preseason favorites have already established a foothold at the top of their division race, there have been a few unexpected results, both on the field and at the betting window.

Baltimore Orioles pitcher Brian Matusz has been suspended eight games after umpires found a foreign substance on his arm in Saturday's 1-0 loss to the Miami Marlins, Major League Baseball announced Monday.

Matusz will appeal the penalty. He will be eligible to play until the appeal is heard. 

The Atlanta Braves have always put a focus on drafting, scouting and developing within the organization.

New president of baseball operations John Hart has put an even greater emphasis on the draft and restocking the farm system. Hart prioritizes the draft, as evidenced by the Braves' six selections in the first 89 picks of this year's draft —the most of any MLB team.

Baltimore Orioles reliever Brian Matusz learned nothing from Will Smith. Only a few days after the Milwaukee Brewers lefty got the boot for having a foreign substance on his right arm, umpires ejected Matusz on Saturday night after they discovered an illegal material on his arm, per NBC Sports' Bill Baer.

The Texas Rangers will place outfielder Josh Hamilton on the active roster Monday, per Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Hamilton will join his teammates in Cleveland on Sunday night as they prepare for a three-game series with the Indians.

The team’s official Twitter account noted Saturday that Moustakas left the game with a left clavicle contusion. Christian Colon entered as his replacement. 

In the bottom of the fifth inning of Saturday’s game against the Detroit Tigers, the Houston Astros spun the second triple play of the 2015 MLB season.

It was Houston’s first in a long while, per ESPN Stats & Info:
