Marco Scutaro was the "highlight" signing of 2009's offseason. For those who are true fans and/or have played the game, you know that he was not the big solution. In fact, he should never have been signed in the first place. He is simply overpaid and overrated. If the Red Sox did want to sign him it should have been at a much cheaper annual salary. 

For some reason, the New York Mets gave Oliver Perez every chance possible to make the team’s Opening Day roster this year. Some people may even say that there are 12 million reasons why the team did it.

In the past few days, Sandy Alderson has made two decisions that New York Mets fans wanted the previous regime to make virtually all of last year. Bottom line: Cut Luis Castillo and Oliver Perez.

Much like the Miami Heat when they signed the triplets, many in the sports world had them winning it all, including 70 games.  Now, they will be lucky to get to 60 games on the season and winning it all doesn't seem so likely anymore.  

When the Phillies signed their stellar rotation, most in the sports world had them winning the World Series.  People thought that they had it all sewn up—ready to hand them the trophy.  Not so fast my friends, not so fast.

Texas Rangers Third Baseman Michael Young Not Any Happier Entering Season

The Texas Rangers' biggest surprise this offseason wasn't ace Cliff Lee departing for the Philadelphia Phillies.

At least that they could somewhat see coming.

However, star third baseman Michael Young's request to be traded apparently came out of nowhere following the Rangers' 2010 run to the World Series.

There was an excellent article about Marco Scutaro in today’s Boston Globe. Columnist Nick Cafardo crafted an insightful story in which he detailed the shortstop’s health issues last season, providing a considerable amount of behind-the-scenes information that fans had not previously known. But does that mean Scutaro should be the Red Sox’ starting shortstop in 2011?

Tim Lincecum Using Fast Food to Fuel Him

When you're as skinny as San Francisco Giants ace Tim Lincecum is, when you're seemingly invincible like he is on the mound, you get the feeling the guy could eat three Double-Doubles at In N' Out Burger and still get away with it.

In fact, that's what he does...every time he enters an In N' Out.

But it gets better.

It's been said that chicks dig the long ball. In fact, everybody digs the long ball.

That's not to say that baseball fans don't appreciate a pitcher going the distance in a game while striking out 15 batters, but watching someone hack a home run into the summer night is just something that our attention is drawn to.

Unfortunately for fans in many cities, long balls are seen far less frequently than in others.
