MLB Preview: Alex Rodriguez and 7 Veterans Who Will Go Back in Time in 2011

When baseball fans hear certain names, they may not think of the most recent accomplishments.

When you hear Alfonso Soriano, you don't think .240, 24 HR. Anyone who has followed baseball for a few years will think of one of the most exciting power/speed combinations in the past decade.

These are some players who have a chance this season to relive their past exploits, some in good ways and some in bad. They are going back in time to a specific year, and a stat line we could see them repeat in 2011.

EE Sports World Interview with Mets Prospect Darrell Ceciliani

I got the pleasure of getting to chat with Darrell Ceciliani today, prospect for the New York Mets.

Ceciliani hit .351 with a .410 OBP and had two home runs, 35 runs batted in and 21 stolen bases in 68 games last year for the short A Brooklyn Cyclones of the New York-Pennsylvania League. He also set franchise records of 95 hits, 56 runs and 12 triples.

Toronto Blue Jays: With Brandon Morrow on DL, Is a Trade Looming?

With the news that Toronto has placed pitcher Brandon Morrow on the 15-day DL with right elbow inflammation retroactive to March 22nd, the battle between Jesse Litsch and Jo-Jo Reyes for the fifth spot in the rotation is rendered moot.

New York Mets 2011: Pressing Issues and How They Should Be Handled

As a Mets fan I've been wondering five things throughout the offseason and spring training:

When will they release Oliver Perez? Done.

When will they release Luis Castillo? Done.

Who is going to play second base? To be determined.

What's going to happen with the most dynamic leadoff hitter in the game, Jose Reyes? To be determined.

Fantasy Baseball: Is Boston's Carl Crawford a Top Five Pick?

Fantasy Baseball Projections Have Carl Crawford in Top Five, But is This Right?

The Boston Red Sox made a huge move in Carl Crawford, and fantasy owners know entirely why they wanted to pick up a player like this. He is easily ranked as one of the top outfielders due to a nice enough home run and RBI count, as well as great marks in stolen bases and batting average.

Introducing the Fantasy Pundit Accountability Act: Monitoring Predictions

To combat my ignorance the first time I played fantasy baseball, I did what anyone does when they need answers: consulted the Internet. This was 2005—the Industrial Age for the web—so fantasy commentary was just starting to percolate “back then”; it wasn’t as obvious where to go for information.

What I couldn’t get my head around was a concept I kept reading about—this concept of Value. Only experience could help answer questions like:

Try This On for Size: Cleveland's Grady Sizemore Readying for 2011 Season

After two disappointing seasons where he only played in 139 total games, Cleveland Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore seems primed and ready for a revival year.

After only missing nine games from 2005 to 2008, Sizemore hit an unexpected injury bug in 2009, where he injured both his elbow and abdomen, and in 2010 where a microfracture surgery on his knee ended his season after only 33 games.

MLB News: New Phillies Second Baseman Luis Castillo Makes Bad First Impression

Luis Castillo Arrives Late to Philadelphia Phillies Camp

Let's say you're someone who just got released from a baseball team. More accurately, a team essentially paid you $6 million to go away. A team is looking to fill the second base spot, and sign you.

You'd actually make sure you were there on time right? Luis Castillo did not. After signing with the Phillies on Sunday, he was expected to arrive in Clearwater on Monday, but did not show up until Tuesday afternoon, citing a miscommunication.

L.A. Dodgers: Which Minor League Prospect Will Be Called Upon First in 2011?

With Opening Day only one week away and the list of injuries seemingly growing, fans across Dodgertown are left wondering if a door may open for one of several minor league prospects within the organization.

The track record of general manager Ned Colletti suggests that he much rather prefers middle-of-the-road veterans over the youngsters, however a handful of the farmhands have already shown positive value over the course of Cactus League play this spring.

L.A. Angels: Can Kendrys Morales Bounce Back from His Broken Leg?

The next time Kendrys Morales takes the field in a game, his teammates and coaches aren’t likely to tell him to “break a leg.”

The L.A. Angels first baseman did just that late last May and hasn’t made a single appearance in a game since. Nearly a year removed from the injury that effectively killed his and the Angels’ season, Morales still isn’t quite ready for game time.
