Our 2011 fantasy baseball projections will be released one-by-one until the top 100 players have been revealed. These rankings consider past achievements, current performance and expected future results based on standard 5×5 H2H settings.

During the reign of Kevin Towers, and especially since their move to PETCO park, the Padres have been known as a team with good pitching and a below average and boring offense. Games of 1-0, 2-1, etc., are what Padres fans have come to expect.

New York Mets (2010 record: 79-83)

The NY Mets had what is widely considered to be the worst offseason among all of Major League Baseball’s 30 clubs…maybe it was a case of “lesson learned.”

To open this spring the New York Yankees had plenty of questions surrounding their rotation and a four-man race for those last two coveted spots took center stage in Yankee camp. Ivan Nova, Sergio Mitre, Bartolo Colon and Freddy Garcia had to prove their worth, otherwise they could be sent packing. 

Washington Nationals (2010 record: 69-93)

The addition of free agent Jayson Werth speaks volumes about the Nationals’ growth in terms of the perception of the team as it continues its journey towards baseball relevance. The trade-off from Adam Dunn to Werth may or may not make an impact on the field in terms of wins and losses, but it makes a clear statement about the possibilities for the future.

We all want Joe Mauer, but only one owner can come away with him. Don’t fret. There are other options to give you a boost in the batting average category. All average draft positions are from Mock Draft Central.

Julio Borbon is second in all off baseball in committing errors thus far in Spring Training. The league leaders in errors typically are infielders who have many more opportunities than outfielders. Borbon has five errors this Spring, he has a total of seven errors in his career in the regular season.

According to ESPNDeportes.com, the Cubs are interested in recently released and former Mets second baseman Luis Castillo. But while the potential acquisition of Castillo may not solve all of the Cubs woes, it may be worth a flier. 

On the surface, it's easy to see why the Cubs would show interest in Castillo. He will come cheaply, with the Mets paying the majority of his remaining contract. Any team that signs him would be required to pay just the league minimum.

As we push through the latter parts of Spring Training, player news and updates will have more and more impact on our Fantasy Draft Day plans.

Chase Utley, PHI.

Thank God. Those were two words that I uttered when I first heard that Ken Macha would not be back with the Brewers for a third season.

That euphoria lasted all of five minutes because then I was to find out who was going to replace him.

It took a little while to find out who the candidates even were. Two prominent mentions were Bob Brenly (gag!) and Bobby Valentine. I did not want either of them anywhere near the Brewers. Then there was talk of Joey Cora, who wouldn't have been all bad.
