A Mets Fan To New York Yankees: Please Sweep Us!

For the first time in the history of the Subway Series I think to myself "Could the New York Yankees please put us out of our misery and sweep us?"

A sweep by the Yankees would go a long way towards putting the final nail in the coffin of the Omar Minaya era. Jerry Manuel can stay.

Fantasy Baseball Around the Majors: May 21: Rollins, Billingsley & More

We had a full slate of Interleague games, with plenty of interesting performances.  How about the Twins' 15 runs outburst—Joe Mauer had to have a big night, right?  How about Chad Billingsley & Cole Hamels impressing?

Brennan Can 'Boesch' the Baseball with the Best of Them

Who is Brennan Boesch and why is he being mean to American League pitchers?

Boesch, pronounced “BOSH,” as in the pro basketball behemoth, wasn’t called up by the Tigers, he was unleashed.

For several seasons, Tigers fans have cried for a hefty lefty in their batting order.

Now here comes Boesch, 25, as if dropped from the heavens.

Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts: May 20, 2010

Here’s a look at some unheralded players who played well yesterday.

Luke Hochevar, Kansas City Royals

Hochevar threw a complete game, allowing three runs on four hits with seven Ks, to improve to 4-2 with a 5.37 ERA.

Laynce Nix, Cincinnati Reds

Atlanta Braves: In Case You're Counting, That's Three in a Row

With Brooks Conrad’s walk-off grand slam, the Braves have won three games in a row (all by walk-offs) and completed a sweep (even if it was only two games) over the previously surging Cincinnati Reds.

I know momentum doesn’t play as big of a role in baseball as it does other sports (specifically football), but I can’t see how the Braves aren’t flying high after this past win.

MLB Denies Yankees Protest

Yesterday, Major League Baseball denied the Yankees protest regarding their game against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday. Here's a quote from Brian Cashman that pretty much sums up my opinion on the subject:

Bobby Valentine: Answer for the New York Mets

When looking at the Mets this year, fans can see there is one thing they truly lack: charisma.

Jerry Manuel is known for his laid back attitude and approach to the game. So far this has been terribly unsuccessful. He has a 147-152 record since taking over as Mets manager midway through the 2008 season. Mediocrity is not acceptable in New York.

The Mets need a charismatic manager who brings fire and passion to the game. The team needs to be energized. The perfect manager for the job is Bobby Valentine.

Los Angeles Dodgers Report Card: First Quarter Evaluations

The first 40 games of the season are in the books, and when compiling the report card for the Los Angeles Dodgers, the first quarter can pretty much be summed up in two words — roller coaster.

Undoubtedly, injuries have plagued the boys in blue already during the young season.

At some point or another, the Dodgers have had seven players visit the disabled list, and have heavily relied on bench play or minor league call-ups to pick up the slack.

Wellemeyer Out; Hacker Brings Joe Martinez-Like Stuff To Giants

The San Francisco Giants are on the verge of pulling the plug on No. 5 starter Todd Wellemeyer.

They're not ready to recall 20-year-old Madison Bumgarner or to bring right-hander Joe Martinez back to the big club. The organization is reportedly set to call right-hander Eric Hacker, 27, up from Triple-A Fresno to take Wellemeyer's scheduled start on Tuesday against the Washington Nationals.

The Giants could skip the fifth spot in the rotation and use Tim Lincecum on Tuesday, thus pushing back the next start for the No. 5 starter to May 29 against visiting Arizona.

Jorge Posada To DL: Where's Jesus (Montero) When You Need Him The Most?

Well, he's still at AAA Scranton/Wilkes Barre, to be exact.

Right now, the Yankees might want to call AAA to fix their flat team.

The Bombers got bombed by the Rays last night, 10-6 (trailing 10-2 at one point,) and are now just 4-6 in their last 10, dropping to four games out of first.

To make matters worse, Jorge Posada is out three to four weeks with a broken foot, and Marcus Thames sprained his ankle while stepping on his own bat.
