Arizona Diamondbacks

Baseball's Spring Training Is Finally Here For the Arizona Diamondbacks

For the past 137 days, 20 hours, and 32 minutes I have been waiting for exactly this moment. The 2009 offseason is now officially over. We can stop thinking about a lost season where the Diamondbacks lost 97 games.

We can forget about all the shattered expectations. We can put behind us the injuries to Conor Jackson and Brandon Webb. We can erase the memories of Chris Young’s dismal season, and blot out the thoughts of Bob Melvin being fired.

Arizona Diamondbacks and the Math Book

As you can probably imagine, life around our house is anything but normal. Starting with the line of Arizona Diamondbacks bobble head dolls that greet visitors to “the shrine” as my wife calls it where I have two Chase Field seats, a piece of Bank One Ballpark adorning one wall, and of course second base .

2010 Arizona Diamondbacks Top 10 Prospects

I am not a Diamondbacks fan.

I have nothing against the team but I'm a Phillies fan.

Every season I made up a list of who I thought should be the Phillies Top 10 prospects. To better learn the league I decided to do one for every team.

What I learned from doing Arizona's list was that most of their best talent came from the 2009 MLB draft.

I also hope you like 1B because there are three possible 1B on the list.

If I missed someone or am just completely wrong please tell me.

I now present to you the 2010 Arizona Diamondbacks Top 10 Prospects.

Randy Johnson's First Two Wins as a Major Leaguer

To commemorate Randy Johnson's retirement, here are some details about his earliest days in the majors, pitching for the Expos. The Big Unit made his major league debut on September 15, 1988 as the tallest player ever to play in the majors, supplanting 6-foot-9 Johnny Gee, a left-handed pitcher who played for Pittsburgh and the New York Giants during the Second World War.

A newspaper reported:

Kelly Johnson a Diamond(back) in the Rough

I really like it when teams make smart and sound acquisitions. The latest example of this: the Arizona Diamonbacks’ signing of free agent Kelly Johnson.

According to SI.com’ Jon Heyman, via Twitter , the Diamondbacks have signed the 2B to a one-year, $2 million contract. Johnson will undergo a physical today.

There are two ways you can look at Johnson.

Arizona Diamondbacks Ink Bobby Howry To One-Year Deal

After a couple of fantasy posts today, lets shift our focus to the hot stove.

According to SI.com’s Jon Heyman via Twitter, the Arizona Diamondbacks have signed RHP Bobby Howry to a one-year, $3 million contract. There is also a team option for 2011.

Howry, 36, spent the 2009 season with the San Francisco Giants. He posted a 3.39 ERA with a 6.5 K/9 ratio in 63.2 innings pitched.

Fantasy Impact: Arizona Diamondbacks' Edwin Jackson

I think I am going to make today a very fantasy focused day on The Ghost of Moonlight Graham.

Earlier in the day I talked about the fantasy possibilities of Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim’s Brandon Wood. Now I will talk about Arizona Diamondbacks’ RHP Edwin Jackson.

Revisiting the Castillo for Byrnes Hypothetical Trade

A few weeks back, I profiled why a swap of Eric Byrnes for Luis Castillo would make sense for both the Arizona Diamondbacks and the New York Mets.

Bob Howry Signs with Arizona Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks have come to terms with reliever, Bob Howry , reports Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic [Hat tip MLB Trade Rumors].

Terms of the deal are not immediately available, however it includes an option for the 2011 season and is rumored to be worth somewhere in the ball park of $2 million to $3 million.

Jose Valverde to the Arizona Diamondbacks?

We're all over the Jose Valverde situation today as Nick Piecoro adds in this note about the Diamondbacks and Valverde:
