Dodgers, Giants Standing in The Diamondbacks Way

The 2009 National League's Western Division shapes up to be one of the tougher divisions in baseball.

Last year, the division was sub-par at best. Only the Los Angeles Dodgers, who won the division with a 84-78 record, and the Arizona Diamondbacks, with a 82-80 record, as the only two teams that finished above .500.

This season could be a different story.

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to repeat as division champions with the acquisition of former Diamondback Orlando Hudson, Randy Wolf and the re-signings of Casey Blake and Manny Ramirez.

The Top Five Pitching One-Two Punches In The MLB Are...

So I was sitting in Science Class today and decided to do something different than what I usually do when I'm bored (Normally I sleep), I decided to start on my next B/R article.

Of course I had to first come up with a topic, but now you obviously know what I came up with: What team has the best pitching one-two punch in the majors?

I set up a "tournament" if you want to call it that and was eliminating the teams while all the other members at my table just kept on sleeping.

NL West Preview: Arizona Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks fell short in making the playoffs last year with only 82 wins but with a low budget and aces like Brandon Webb and Dan Haren, the might be pretty competitive in the west. You can also look at rookie Max Scherzer who is coming up in the ranks.

The Diamondbacks signed Felipe Lopez to replace Orlando Hudson at second base and the Diamondbacks would love to have Mark Reynolds continue his power surge that he had last year except they do not want him to cool off. Chris Young and Stephen Drew also return looking for a playoff run.

Arizona Diamondbacks: Five Things To Look Forward to in 2009

1. Chris Young

-We all know that Young has plus power and the ability to steal bases, but at the same time, Young has not yet scratched the surface of his vast potential. In 2008, Young struggled to get on base consistently (.315 OBP), hit for a high average (.248) and struck out far too many times (165 K), especially for a leadoff hitter.
