Conor Jackson Traded by Arizona Diamondbacks To Oakland A's

The first somewhat significant trade of the 2010 season took place yesterday between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Oakland A’s.

I say somewhat because no major names were involved, but I think it was a trade that could help both teams.

Yesterday, the Diamondbacks traded OF/1B Conor Jackson to the A’s for minor league RHP Sam Demel. Here is what both teams got.

Barry Bonds Legal Battle: Does HR King Have The Best Lawyers Since OJ?

Home run records holder and alleged steroid user Barry Bonds, earned a major win Friday when a federal appeals court ruled prosecutors could not use drug tests and doping calendars in the former All-Star's ongoing perjury case.

Bonds' case went to the ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals after a lower court ruled the government could not directly tie blood and urine samples to the retired slugger.

Rich Harden Heads to Texas Rangers' DL

With the news that the Texas Rangers placed RHP Rich Harden on the 15-day DL with a stained glut, we might have an Oliver Perez Part Deux on our hands.

In case you aren’t following the Oliver Perez reference, I will explain.

The New York Mets were desperate to get Perez off their active roster, so they put him on the 15-day DL with right patella tendinitis. The reality is, they put him on the DL for sucking, which is a no-no by Major League Baseball standards.

Rookie Red Sox Daniel Nava's Grand Introduction To the Fenway Faithful

With the Boston Red Sox outfield decimated by injury, General Manager Theo Epstein and Manager Terry Francona looked to the Sox farm system for some short-term help this weekend.

Ready when opportunity knocked, OF Daniel Nava has hit .294 with an .856 OPS for the 2010 Pawtucket Red Sox, and on Saturday those numbers earned him a call to The Show.

After J.D. Drew hooked a homer off Joe Blanton around the Pesky Pole to lead off the bottom of the second inning, the scalding-hot Adrian Beltre followed it up with a base hit to right.

Cleveland Indians Prospect Carlos Santana To Make Tribe Debut This Summer

According to ClevelandIndians.com, Indians top prospect Carlos Santana is expected to make his Major League debut sometime this summer and could be in the majors as early as the all-star break. The 5’11” catcher is said to be the best player within the Indians farm system and the Tribe hopes that he may be able to deliver the spark that the Cleveland offense desperately needs.

Soup's Back on in St. Louis: Cardinals Closing in on Jeff Suppan

With starters Kyle Lohse and Brad Penny on the disabled list and poor showings from rookies P.J. Walters and Blake Hawksworth, the St. Louis Cardinals may be close to bringing a familiar face back to Busch Stadium: Jeff Suppan.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that parameters of a deal were in place that could have the veteran right-hander, who was released by the Brewers on Monday, join the team this weekend in Arizona.

Jon Mozeliak, the Cardinals General Manager, warned that any deal was unofficial as of yet.

New York Yankees: Prospect Dellin Betances Makes 2010 Debut

It seems like Dellin Betances has been in the New York Yankee's system forever.

And for Betances, who was considered a top minor league pitcher, it has been. He is considered one of the true No. 1 type pitchers in the Yankee system.

Drafted in the 8th round of the 2006 draft, Betances was stolen by the Yankees from a full ride to Vanderbilt University with a $1 million signing bonus.

Coming Of Ace: Stephen Strasburg Earns Win, Strikes Out 14 in MLB Debut

"Remember where you are so you remember where you were."–Nationals radio announcer Charlie Slowes after Tuesday night's game

Wow. Just wow.

What more is there to say about Stephen Strasburg's debut?

The buzz surrounding the right-handed fireballer reached historic levels before he even signed a professional contract. He was the unquestioned No. 1 pick in the draft last year, jumping to the top of a prospect class that was far more talented than this year's.

2010 MLB Draft Results: Players Ready for Immediate Impact

The MLB draft means more than just a replenishment of the many major league farm systems.

Like a political poster, the draft screams change and, more importantly, hope for a winning future.

MLB's worst teams are giddy at the prospects of achieving this winning future; they look at their top draft picks as not only tickets out of last place, but also as keys to the pennant.

Some of these teams are in such dire need for improvement that they could use the help now sooner rather later.

So who will get to the majors first?
