Fantasy Baseball: Week 12 Rundown

Week 12 Rundown

With interleague play coming to an end, there are many good interstate matchups this week.  This weekend, the Mets will try to even out the season series with the Yankees, with their first series at Citi Field.  Other matchups include the Cubs vs. the White Sox, the Orioles vs. the Nationals and the Indians vs. the Reds.

Fantasy Factory: Hanley Ramirez, Mr. Overrated

The name of the fantasy player in front of the statistics.

It is the most misleading thing in all of fantasy sports.

Everyone, even myself, is completely guilty of doing this exact same thing time and time again. We turn a blind eye to the stats in front of us, and only focus on the name of the player that is involved in the trade.

If the trade is of a mediocre value, possibly an Adam Jones and Tim Wakefield for an Adam Lind type deal, then the names really go away and we focus on what is important. Will that player help you win?

Fantasy Baseball: Players That May Be on The Move

With the trade deadline a little over a month away, teams are now deciding if they need to make any moves in order to make a run in the playoffs. Some teams may also be trying to make room on their rosters in order to make moves towards the future. Either way, you need to know if your fantasy players will be on the move in the near future.

Players that may be traded before the trade deadline:

First Half Waiver Wire All Stars

Everyone tries to find that hidden gem on draft day. I know its still early but here is an All-Star team of guys who probably started out the year on your waiver wire or buried deep on someone's bench. I'm not saying that these guys will ever make a major league baseball All Star team but they have performed better than anyone could have ever expected them to do so far this year.
Some have revived careers, some are capitalizing on a chance that was finally given to them. Will they keep it up? Only time will tell.

Fantasy Baseball Week In Review: June 8-14

It was a really interesting second week of June. It seemed there was no in between. Either the performances were really great or really terrible.
As always, here are the studs, the players who have me concerned, and the potential pickups from the week of June 8-14.

Fantasy Studs

Torii Hunter—(.368 BA/4 HR/8 RBI) Any player who hits three home runs in one game is definitely a stud.

Trade Target: Chris Young

A player with 30/30 potential is not always easy to come by for fantasy baseball owners.  They are the type of players that everyone is looking to stock their roster with, driving their cost up.  Besides that, how many players even have that type of ability to begin with?

Last season there were two players (Grady Sizemore & Hanley Ramirez) who achieved the feat.  That says a lot.

The Hot 8: Week 11

Happy Flag Day everybody! It is at this point every season where I feel the need to remind fantasy players to be hoisting up the red, white, and blue flag and not just the all white one.

It is only June 14, and there is plenty of baseball left to be played. Nobody is out of it quite yet no matter how far back you reside in the standings. Just look at the Colorado Rockies, winners of 10 straight games. Anything is possible still providing you are committed to making the necessary moves to get your team back on track.

The Reality of Fantasy

You study the offseason, compile data, create lists, read the rumors and Mock Draft like there's no tomorrow just to be ready when your draft day comes. You can't sleep, your significant other thinks you're having an affair, and your dogs and/or cats haven't eaten for days and are leaving you "messages" all around the house.

All this and you still can't believe your struggling to stay afloat barely half way into the season.

It's your worst nightmare! Nearly all your players are either not quite hitting their stride and/or are suffering from a freakish accident/injury.
