Yovani Gallardo

Gallardo has been impressive this season. So far, he has pitched 26.2 innings and given up 19 hits and 11 runs while accumulating 23 strikeouts, two wins, and an ERA of 3.71. That doesn't include his impressive outing today against the Pirates, in which he threw eight scoreless innings, gave up just two hits, and struck out 11 batters.

He has now managed to lower his ERA to 2.86 and boasts a 34:9 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Heck, he even hit a home run, which turned out to be the only run of the game.

For those of you who may already be giving up on your team, and wondering what can be done to fix your team, know this: There are solutions.

Although there are few marquee names, a solid cast is available to revamp your Nationals, Indians, Rockies, or Astros. Think about this, trade every player on your roster for whatever minor league talent you can scrape together, then go out and sign a new team, an all-star team, the all free-agent team. Chicago Cubs have a strong starting line-up and few rookies are getting there chances to play, but 29-year-old rookie Micah Hoffpauir has big power and is beginning to give Lou Piniella something to think about.

Hoffpauir smashed his second home run of the season in the Cubs 10-3 win over the Cardinals when he started for the injured Derek Lee.

Derek Lee is suffering from neck spasms and could be out a few games, but the seriousness is unknown at this time.
