Atlanta Braves' Win Over Twins Highlights Team Depth, Frank Wren's Brilliance

When Frank Wren replaced John Schuerholz as General Manager a couple of years ago, Braves’ fans were undoubtedly skeptical that he could come in and make such a difference. I think now that even the skeptics can be silenced by the performance of Frank Wren in building a ballclub that can be defined by words like "deep," "versatile," and "talented."

Tonight showed just how those words ring true about the 2010 Atlanta Braves.

Daniel Nava Wastes No Time in Boston Red Sox Debut, Powers Team Past Phillies

What happened at Fenway Park today exemplifies why baseball is the best sport there is. Yankee fans wouldn’t have enjoyed what took place, but anyone else with any brain capacity at all with a love for baseball and great stories would appreciate what Daniel Nava did.

Johnny Be Good: Cueto Shows a Lot of Heart

Baseball can be a cruel game. The numbers are the numbers, and they never lie. If you look at the boxscore from Saturday night's 11-5 Reds victory over the Royals, it will show you that Johnny Cueto pitched six innings, allowed five earned runs, and had four walks.

Takahashi Solid, Homers Propel Mets to Win

BALTIMORE: It's finally happened. The Mets have won a road series for the first time in 2010. Albeit against the Orioles, the Mets have gotten that story out of the way, helped out by a bounce back from Hisanori Takahashi.

The Mets got off to a fast start against lefty Brian Matusz, as Jose Reyes hit a leadoff home run, his third of the season.

The Mets only had five hits in this game, but they had two big blows, the other being a Jeff Francoeur solo home run in the eighth.

Carter's Blast Helps Dickey, Mets to Win Over Orioles

BALTIMORE-- At 8-18 on the road this season, the Mets needed to inch towards the .500 mark, and they were at the perfect place to do so.

In Baltimore, the team with the worst record in the American League at 17-44, the Mets took care of business behind knuckleballer R. A. Dickey, who improved to 4-0 on the season.

Andy Pettitte Wins 200th Game With Yankees

When Andy Pettitte decides to retire, he will be remembered by Yankee fans as one of the best pitchers in pinstripes. With the way Pettitte is pitching this season, retirement may not come for several more years.

On Friday night at Yankee Stadium, Pettitte became the 35th pitcher to win 200 games as a Yankee as New York knocked off Houston, 4-3, in the opener of the three game interleague series. Pettitte joined Whitey Ford and Red Ruffing as the only pitchers to win at least 200 games for New York.

What the Giants Learned from a Good Roadtrip That Could Have Been Great

As the Giants head home to face the Oakland Athletics, they look back on a solid roadtrip with a 4-3 record. However, many Giants players and fans saw 5-2 in their sights. However, the weak teams sit and wallow, the strong strive to learn and correct, especially one looking at a possible run to the playoffs. And a lot can be learned from a successful, yet disappointing trip.

Yankees vs. Orioles: Arrieta Impressive in Major League Debut

Baltimore rookie pitcher Jake Arrieta had the difficult task of facing the New York Yankees in his major league debut.

However, Arrieta held the powerful Yankees offense in check and picked up his first big league win in the Orioles' 4-3 win Thursday night at Camden Yards.

Baltimore ended a 10-game losing streak to New York and avoided being swept by the Yankees for the third time this season. New York finished their six-game road trip with a 3-3 record.

Mets-Padres: Jon Niese Misses Perfect Game, Delivers One-Hit Shutout in Mets Win

NEW YORK—The Mets have never had a no-hitter thrown in their 48-year history. Tonight, although the lone baserunner came in the third, it could've happened.

Jon Niese allowed a leadoff double to Padres center-fielder Chris Denorfia, and that was the only baserunner he put on all game.

Niese retired 27 of 28 batters, including the last 21 to face him, in one of the greatest pitching performances in Mets' history. It was the first Mets one-hit shutout since Aaron Heilman on April 15, 2005.

Is It Too Late for a Run: Where Have These Houston Astros Been All Year?

The Houston Astros have finally begun winning ball games fairly consistently.

My only question is: Where were these Astros at the start of the season?

Carlos Lee jacked a grand slam in the top of the 10th inning on Wednesday night in Colorado, as Houston came back from an early deficit and the Astros topped the Rockies, 6-2, in wild fashion.

And it’s about damn time.

Just moments after Houston made their final selections in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft, it finally appears as though the Astros are beginning to get things going this season.
