Red Sox: "I Say a Little Prayer For You"

Every year, it comes time for a sports fan to sit down, take a deep breath and assess their team’s chances in their division.

Cubs Add Versatility With Smart Signing

Today's Chicago Cubs signing didn't make the headlines, but it may turn out to be an important signing for Cubs General Manager, Jim Hendry.

New York Sports Teams Add Unsavory Characters

The New York Jets, New York Giants, New York Mets, and New York Rangers have all added unsavory characters to their lineups lately. The new New Yorkers include Michael Boley, Rocky Bernard, Ron Villone, Larry Izzo, and Sean Avery.

The bad boys of football, baseball, and hockey descending on New York City has reminded some observers of The Last Judgement. The observers are asking,"Who you gonna call?"

According to the New York Times, the Giants are also ready to welcome back Plaxico Burress.

Nationals Hoping For a Perfect Storm in 2009

It's been a long time since the Washington Nationals have been shown any real respect by the media, though to be fair, they really haven't deserved any.

Halfway through the team's inaugural season in Washington, the Nationals were atop the National League East with a 50-31 record.

The Pittsburgh Pirates: The Red-Headed Stepchild of Pittsburgh Sports

This could quite possibly be the most fascinating time in Pittsburgh sports history.

The Steelers have just won their second Super Bowl in four years and the Penguins flirted with the Stanley Cup last season featuring the dynamic duo of Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby.

The Pitt Panthers men's basketball team drifted in and out of the No. 1 ranking while the university's football team saw a 9-3 resurgence and a trip to the Sun Bowl.

The one thing missing from this picture is Pittsburgh's oldest and most tradition-soaked team—the Pirates.

MLB Doesn't Mind Alex Rodriguez, Should We?

<!--StartFragment-->

Recently, the story broke that in 2003, Alex Rodriguez tested positive for steroid use. Buzz about whether or not Rodriguez should be considered for the Hall of Fame emerged. Quickly, his carefully crafted image began to crumble and he had to apologize for lying about his usage and for lying about the length of time he used steroids.

Phillies-Pirates: Ryan Howard Homers, but Philadelphia Falls to Pittsburgh

PIRATES 6, PHILLIES 5
at Clearwater, Fla.
Friday, March 13

Pirates on the mound

Left-hander Zach Duke threw the ball well in 3.2 innings. He allowed just one hit and one walk and struck out two. He got into a bases-loaded jam in the fourth after a leadoff single to Eric Bruntlett, a two-out walk to Ryan Howard, and an error from third baseman Andy LaRoche to load the bases, but left-hander David Davidson took over and got out of the inning without a run scoring. Daniel McCutchen allowed five runs in 1.1 innings.
