We've turned the calendar on September and sailed through another week of MLB action, which means it's time for a fresh installment of Bleacher Report's Team of the Week.

In case you're new to the party, these are the players (one per position, including a starting pitcher and designated hitter) who have busted box scores over the past seven days. Forget their overall stats. We're judging them solely on what they accomplished between August 28 and September 3.

Tim Lincecum was never supposed to last this long. But he was never supposed to go away so soon.

He was too small and too funky, and he was never going to endure. Then he was a two-time Cy Young winner and a World Series champion, and he was going to be a San Francisco Giant forever.

September is here, and with it comes pennant-chase baseball and prospect call-ups. Not many prospects are gifted with the opportunity to immediately step in and take on a prominent role with a team competing for the postseason, so we’ve highlighted one player with the best opportunity to do that: Joey Gallo of the Texas Rangers.

With a chance to go ahead by 7.5 games in the NL West, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to a spirited San Diego Padres team Thursday night 10-7. 

The Padres posted 15 hits in a game that featured multiple momentum shifts. 

Dodgers' starting pitcher Mat Latos had trouble right out of the gate, allowing two runs on hits by Justin Upton and Jedd Gyorko in the first inning. His night would not get better. 

Latos went on to give up eight hits and four earned runs in just four innings pitched. 

The San Francisco Giants announced Tim Lincecum will miss the remainder of the 2015 season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left hip, but the team hasn't ruled out re-signing the impending free agent as his contract gets set to expire.
