With a chance to go ahead by 7.5 games in the NL West, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to a spirited San Diego Padres team Thursday night 10-7. 

The Padres posted 15 hits in a game that featured multiple momentum shifts. 

Dodgers' starting pitcher Mat Latos had trouble right out of the gate, allowing two runs on hits by Justin Upton and Jedd Gyorko in the first inning. His night would not get better. 

Latos went on to give up eight hits and four earned runs in just four innings pitched.

John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle confirmed the news Thursday.
