Cubs Manager Joe Maddon Wore Same, Unwashed Socks During 9-Game Winning Streak

When things are going well, players stick to what is working.

Apparently managers do the same.

The Chicago Cubs entered Sunday's game against the Chicago White Sox having won 15 of their previous 16 games, including nine in a row. Perhaps the reason behind the streak was the fact that Cubs manager Joe Maddon wore the same—unwashed—socks in each of the nine wins.

Daily Fantasy Baseball 2015: MLB DraftKings Late-Season Pickups for August 17

Crunch time is approaching for the 2015 daily fantasy baseball season. With the postseason just over one month away and myriad teams still vying for playoff spots, the pressure has been ratcheted up in baseball.

What does it all mean for daily fantasy owners? Well, let's just say there are some stars emerging who simply can't be left out of lineups. Here is a look at some players who need to be picked up for Monday's slate of games.

Madison Bumgarner Hits HR, Catches Comebacker and Dominates Nats with 14 Ks

When they shoot Field of Dreams II, and it's inevitably based on Madison Bumgarner's straight-to-DVD, hackishly unbelievable real life, they'll probably model the Big Game after the performance he had Sunday.

Travis d'Arnaud Scampers Back to Dugout After Being Frightened by Thunderstorm

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Top 10 Pickups for Week 20

Throughout the season, fantasy baseball managers envisioned better times via the trade market. Now with the deadline about up in most leagues, all of everyone's hopes transfer to the waiver wire.

Locking trades entraps owners into feeling their fates are set. With no portal left for deals, everyone is largely stuck to play the season out and watch the end unfold. Free agency is nice, but how many game-changers funnel through the open market?

MLB Power Rankings: An Updated Look at Where All 30 Teams Stand

The dog days of summer are here as we have reached crunch time in the 2015 MLB season.

Getting hot at the right time can go a long way in August and September, and even with so many games already in the books, teams continue to shuffle up and down in these rankings on a weekly basis.

So let's take an updated look at how all 30 teams currently stack up.

When putting together this list, we considered the following factors:

Game Closes Ranks as Red Sox's John Farrell Takes Leave of Absence for Cancer

It was an equipment bag. How many times have you picked up your gear and not thought anything of it?

Surely, when Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell reached for an equipment bag in New York the week before last, he did so without a second thought. Like pulling on a shirt or tying his shoes.

This time, though, as he lifted, he suffered a hernia.

Which led to a minor, routine procedure in Detroit a few days later.

That led to an absolutely stunning, horrifying revelation.

Matt Harvey's Innings Limit Puts Rebirth of Mets Mania at Risk

No matter the situation, Matt Harvey wants the ball in his hand. It's an admirable trait to have an unyielding competitive streak running through his veins, and it's not something that can be taught. You either have it or you don't.

But as New York's 26-year-old star understands better than most, it's something that can oftentimes lead to frustration.
