New York Mets: 2009 Best Case Scenario

Let's walk through the 2009 New York Mets and give everyone the best case scenario.

1B—Carlos Delgado

In what will likely be his final year as a Met, the super-motivated Delgado will choose not to play bad in April and produce a 40 home run, 120 RBI year. They’re off to a great start.

2B—Luis Castillo

Castillo's going to hit .334 and steal 62 bases like he did in 2000 as a 24-year-old.

SS—Jose Reyes

Major League Baseball's Milestone Preview: American League East

Now that we’ve all got the Comedy Central Roast of Larry the Cable Guy in our rearview mirror, it’s time to focus on the upcoming baseball season.

Alfonso Soriano For Jason Bay: A Trade That Makes Sense

As a preface to this article, please read my previous article: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/139760-report-red-sox-break-off-contract-talks-with-jason-bay

It was reported on Sunday evening that the Boston Red Sox and left fielder Jason Bay have been unable to reach an agreement on a contract extension, and that the Red Sox are backing away from the negotiating table.

Time for a big time trade idea!

Report: Red Sox Break Off Contract Talks With Jason Bay

ESPN is reporting that the Boston Red Sox attempts to extend the contract of left fielder Jason Bay have stalled, and the team is backing away from the negotiating table.

Now what?

Last year, when the contract situation of Manny Ramirez became one of the ugliest situations between a team and a star player in recent memory, the team traded him in a blockbuster deal that brought in Bay from Pittsburgh.

Now, with Bay's contract expiring after 2009, the team faces the same situation this coming season.

Are the Chicago Cubs Becoming the 1990s Atlanta Braves?

In the 1990s, there were very few certainties in professional sports. Other than escalating contracts and the possibility of a strike-shortened season, the only thing you knew was going to happen annually was the Atlanta Braves winning their division.

The Braves had maybe the best starting rotation of the last 30 years, headlined by Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz. They brought players up through their organization, like Chipper Jones and David Justice, and mixed in quality veterans like Marquis Grissom and Terry Pendleton to create a dominating team for over ten years.

Trial by Fire: Is Rick Porcello Heading to Detroit?

It is starting to get intriguing down in Lakeland, Fla.

What appeared to be the longshot of all longshots this Spring may indeed be coming to fruition, although not in the way many believed it would happen.

Rick Porcello, the Detroit Tigers first round draft pick way back in 2007, is a strong bet to make the rotation.

That alone would merit a "wow" sentiment.  What may really blow your socks off is the idea that Porcello might not be the number five starter, but rather number four.

Saves: The Most Overrated Stat in Major League Baseball

On Sept. 13, 2008, Rodriguez broke Bobby Thigpen's saves record for a single season with 58. The following day, I jumped onto YouTube to watch a video of the record-breaking moment and couldn't help but look at some of the comments people had written.

Many of the comments were along the lines of, "K-Rod is the best closer in Major League Baseball." As a huge Joe Nathan fan, I was a little ticked off. I rattled in my head a number of players who I thought were better, such as: Joe Nathan, Jonathan Papelbon, Mariano Rivera, Brad Lidge, and Joakim Soria.

Yankee's Bench Problem: What's Left?

Yes, the Yankees have a bench problem, at least in the infield.  Cody Ransom and Angel Berroa are the back ups.  Ransom is young, and no one is sure he'll work, and Berroa's on a minor league deal.

There are still players on the market for the Yankees.

In my opinion, there are two options:

Fantasy Tips: MLB Opening Day!

With MLB Opening Day quickly approaching, many questions must come to mind when preparing for your fantasy draft.

Should I draft A-Rod early and hope for a successful return?

What happens once the top five catchers are picked?

When should I draft a closer?

Who are the biggest sleepers in each position?

Is the draft the most important aspect in regards to winning my league?

World Baseball Classic Should Be Dropped By MLB

When will the MLB finally realize that the WBC is a joke and they should no longer use MLB players? Many superstars pass on playing in the tourney, and don't want to risk getting hurt.

It comes right smack dab in the middle of spring training. The time most MLB players are worried about making their team's 25 man roster.

The only ones who take it seriously are the country's who don't have MLB. Teams like Cuba, Korea and others. Japan also takes it to heart even with their 130 game pro season.
