Breaking News: Los Angeles Angels' Pitcher Nick Adenhart Dies in Car Crash

According to the LA Times, rookie pitcher, Nick Adenhart of the Anaheim Angels died in a car crash after last night’s game versus the Oakland Athletics.

A driver ran a red light, killing three people, including the blue-chip prospect. Adenhart, 22, made his season debut last night pitching six innings, striking out five with no earned runs.

Two Tampa Bay Rays' Bullpen Links

These are two links I have found recently having to do with the Rays that I enjoy. Even if you're not a Rays' fan, but like baseball, you'll at least find them worth reading.

Baltimore Orioles' Future Looks Bright

The O's are coming at'cha!

As a Red Sox fan I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I can’t wait for the day the Baltimore Orioles are good again.

I don’t know why, but there’s something about an Orioles team being relevant again that excites me.

It may be because I remember watching the Orioles in the playoffs in the mid-'90s and the electricity in Camden Yards was amazing.

Or, it might because the Oriole is my favorite bird—yeah, I think I’ll go with the former.

LA Angeles Pitcher, Nick Adenhart, Killed In Car Accident

Terrible news out of California this morning as Angels No. 1 prospect Nick Adenhart was killed in a felony auto accident early this morning. TMZ is reporting and the link can be found here.

Game Three: New York Yankees at Baltimore Oriole's—Don't Get Swept

The Shakedown: Best Hair & Mustache Combo - Oscar Gamble

Welcome back to the Shakedown!

Last week we introduced our latest “Monthly Mustache Shakedown” with a look at the “Best Hair & Mustache Combo.”

For week one we chose “The Big Mullet” Randy Johnson, just five wins away from 300, and a man who has consistently sported a fine Mississippi Waterfall-style mullet to compliment his fine looking labia sebucula (Latin for “lip sweater”).

Are the Yankees That Bad, Or Are the Orioles That Good?

Much is being made about the New York Yankees’ terrible start to the season, specifically the epic fail of their top two pitchers in their opening series against the Baltimore Orioles.

I get that the Yankees are the flagship franchise of Major League Baseball, so their struggles become instant ammunition for angry white journalists to fire off in prematurely-damning columns.

But is this really a question of the overpaid Yankees being that terrible, or the Baltimore Orioles being a much-improved club?

It's Starting to Feel Weird Commending Philly Fans

The other day, we gave necessary props to the Opening Day festivities at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.  After all, they had professional ballplayers entering the ceremonies through the bleachers and no one got zinged in the melon by an item labeled “Duracell.”

Riding the St. Louis Cardinal Roller Coaster

Is this the way it's going to be? Down one day, up the next, down the day after that?  Let me know so I can take some motion sickness pills.

The Cardinals lost again last night to the Pirates, this time with St. Louis trying for late inning dramatics and failing.  One day after the high of an offensive explosion, the Redbirds again struggled, posting only two hits until late in the ballgame.
