While the baseball world is firmly focused on free-agent prizes and where they'll end up, key MLB stars are busy recovering from injuries that derailed their campaigns a season ago.

In those cases, the returns of those players are more important than any offseason acquisition ever could be. Over the next few slides, we'll take a look at a handful of players who hope to rebound from lost seasons in 2016. 

"Value" isn't exactly the word that comes to mind when thinking about the 2015-2016 MLB free-agent class.

While aces like David Price and Zack Greinke have made fortunes in recent days, there are still plenty of free agents who can be bought at bargain prices.

Major League Baseball's annual offseason extravaganza known as the winter meetings will begin Monday in Nashville, Tennessee, with all 30 teams seeking to upgrade their roster for 2016 and beyond through trades and/or free-agent signings. 

The San Francisco Giants did not land their man.

After taking the Toronto Blue Jays to the American League Championship Series and winning the AL MVP, the 29-year-old will grace the cover of MLB 16: The Show.

Outfielder Justin Upton, now a free agent, may be on his way out of San Diego as interest in him from other teams begins to surface.

Angels Could Be Cespedes Suitor

Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reported the Angels may make a run at Cespedes.

Pitcher Jeff Samardzija signed a five-year deal with the San Francisco Giants on Saturday, according to Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area.

Free-agent pitcher Henderson Alvarez was non-tendered by the Miami Marlins on Wednesday and is already garnering plenty of interest on the market.

Ryan Madson had a great bounce-back season as a member of the Kansas City Royals bullpen in 2015. Now, the 35-year-old will be looking to cash in on that success this offseason.
