The 2015 Major League Baseball winter meetings have yet to start, but it's already obvious that this will be one of the craziest and least predictable offseasons in years. 

Zack Greinke provided the biggest jolt so far this winter, agreeing to a deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

What was once a sputtering offseason jump-started into high gear over the last week.

Two blockbuster free-agent signings are now in the books since Sunday. Jordan Zimmermann’s agreement with the Detroit Tigers whet the appetite and David Price’s monster deal with the Boston Red Sox put the rest of the market in a post-Thanksgiving contract coma.

There's still an awful lot of winter between now and spring training. So, suffice it to say we don't know all there is to know about the 2015-16 Major League Baseball offseason just yet. 

But after a month or so of trade and free-agent activity, we do know a bit. A few trends have surfaced, and they give us a sense for how the rest of the offseason will play out.

If the 2015 MLB season proved anything, it's that prospects are capable of making an impact at the major league level sooner than they ever have. 

With so much young talent entering the big leagues, the stakes have never been higher. Teams' farm systems are ever-evolving, and prospects that can't keep up with the pace are often passed by.

In spending hundreds of millions of dollars over the last few years, the Los Angeles Dodgers did their best John Hammond impression. In their pursuit of a championship, they spared no expense.

In a stunning series of events Friday, right-handed starting pitcher Zack Greinke agreed to terms with the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

With the free-agent pitching crop thinning out at the top, a valuable second-tier starter such as Mike Leake may see his market pick up heading into the winter meetings.

Prized free-agent starting pitcher Zack Greinke has pulled off an offseason stunner, reportedly signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks.  

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports first reported the agreement between Greinke and the Diamondbacks.

The Boston Red Sox made their seven-year, $217 million commitment to starting pitcher David Price official Friday with a press conference at Fenway Park, and the southpaw had plenty of positive things to say about joining the franchise after closing out the 2015 season with the Toronto Blue Jays.
