It took to the final outs of the season, but the 2015 MLB playoff field is set. Sunday's regular-season finales settled the remaining dust of the AL West and decided home-field advantage for the NL Wild Card Game, which were the two lingering questions heading into Game 162.    

The AL West was by far the most interesting storyline, with the Texas Rangers, Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels all unsure about where they would be heading.

The Houston Astros were a disaster in their first two years in the American League, with a combined record of 121-203 (including an abysmal 51-111 record in 2013), but they completely turned the corner this season and are heading to the playoffs.

After 15 years and 2,935 hits in MLB, Miami Marlins outfielder Ichiro Suzuki got to do something he's always wanted to.

The 41-year-old got to pitch.

Clayton Kershaw has won multiple Cy Young Awards, a Most Valuable Player Award and thrown a no-hitter over his illustrious eight-year MLB career. On Sunday, the Los Angeles Dodgers ace checked another accomplishment off his checklist: throwing 300 strikeouts in a single season.

Although MLB free agency remains some months away, plenty of fans are already wondering where some of the top players on the market could land.

The free-agent market has become somewhat diluted overall in recent years, with smaller-market teams more able to lock up their talented homegrown stars. But fear not, for general managers will spend hundreds of millions of dollars this offseason in the hopes of becoming or remaining a World Series contender, whatever the case may be.

Chicago White Sox center fielder Adam Eaton will undergo a medical procedure promptly after the MLB season ends to address a shoulder injury.

Eaton to Have Arthroscopic Surgery

Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reported the news on Eaton, who indicated he "should be fishing" two to three weeks after Monday's operation.

Sunday will conclude a second straight losing season for the Boston Red Sox, but manager John Farrell's prior success is keeping him at the helm in 2016.

The Red Sox announced Farrell is returning to the dugout next year, along with bench coach Torey Lovullo and other assistants:

Wild Card: Houston Astros at New York Yankees

We've all had one of those days where nothing seems to go right, but have you ever had one of those years? For the players that made the cut on our season-ending All-Dud squad, 2015 will go down as a year they'd soon forget.

For none of these players came close to meeting even the most modest of expectations heading into the season. Some were major factors in their teams failing to meet those same expectations, while others were less of a burden on clubs that managed to find success despite their individual struggles.

It's the last day of the regular season, and all 30 MLB clubs are in action.  Most of Sunday afternoon's contests are predominately meaningless and won't affect the final standings.  This has the potential to wreak havoc on DraftKings daily fantasy lineups.

However, some teams are still competing for spots in the postseason, and many players will also be looking to achieve personal statistical goals.
