Breaking up is always hard to do, even when it's for the best.

You start reminiscing about all the good times you've had, the places you've traveled together.

It's even harder when you live together.  All their stuff is in your place, and everywhere you look are reminders of the good thing you had.

But sometimes it has to be done, even if you don't have another special someone waiting in the wings.

You don't stay with someone just because you've always been with them, hoping that things will get better.

This season's trade deadline held no surprises for the Dodgers and General Manager Ned Colletti.

As per usual, the tenacious GM pulled off some big moves in the 11th hour, acquiring best-of-the-remaining starters Ted Lilly, a reliable infielder and everyday starter in Ryan Theriot, a seasoned veteran fireballer in Octavio Dotel, and stability and speed in the outfield with Scott Podsednik.

However, there are still several players on the Dodgers' roster that should have been shipped out in the process.

For weeks leading up to MLB’s trade deadline, the Yanks were mostly quiet. Once the Cliff Lee deal fell through, the only names being thrown around were bats off the bench and middle relief help.

Well, the Yanks got their bench bat in Austin Kearns. And they paid the Indians $1.4M to rent Kerry Wood for the rest of the season.

But the one guy who came completely out of nowhere (and has the most potential to improve the team) was Lance Berkman.

Carlos Beltran's trade value depends on how he finishes the 2010 season.  If the mets don't have the money to spend, they should look to dump some salary.  Not saying these teams will take it.  It's just an idea.

This hitting machine has added more firepower to the Braves lineup than any amount of petroleum and firearms ever could.

The are people who refuse to acknowledge reality and continue to insist that the San Francisco Giants needed to make a blockbuster deal before the trade deadline passed.

The Giants did exactly what they should've done. They gave up a minor leaguer for a veteran right-handed relief pitcher. Then, they traded two players with big league experience, but not much success, for a left-hander for the bullpen.

The trading deadline has come and gone, many teams made moves to either help their club or plan for the future, but the Mets though, stood pat.

It was a mild surprise, considering GM Omar Minaya said earlier that he wasn't reluctant to make a move.

Before tonight's game against the Diamondbacks, Minaya spoke on the non-move saying due to not wanting to part with certain prospects and the Mets positioning in the standings, the right move was to do nothing.

The Yankees were among the busiest teams at the trade deadline yesterday, significantly changing their roster in hopes of another World Series title.

Each new player coming in will have a role to play, while the players they're replacing will move on to different things themselves.

So far this season, the St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds have been engaged in a dogfight among the top of the National League Central. With St. Louis recently solidifying their starting rotation, that may be about to change.
