Yankee Stadium Grass For Sale, Get It While It's Hot

Remember the other day when I posted this about the grass as the old stadium being ripped up? Some of you speculated that the grass would be sold, and it turns out those people were right.

From the AP:

A New Jersey grass farm that has supplied turf to Yankee Stadium since the 1960s plans to sell officially licensed grass in the form of sod or seeds.

Chicago Cubs Expectations Based On Surplus Of Talent and Not 100 Years Of Losing

For years Cubs expectations have been based on them being overdue to win a championship. We've all heard this phrase, "It's been 90+ years and the Cubs MUST win a championship this year."

For the record, it's now a 100+ years but the Cubs are expected to play deep into October because they're one of the most talented teams in all of baseball.  The expectations have nothing to do with their World Series drought.

Alex Gordon: Second Coming Or Bust?

After being a two-time Big 12 Conference Player of the Year at the University of Nebraska and winning Baseball America’s College Player of the Year Award, Gordon was drafted by the Kansas City Royals as the overall No. 2.  That is when the comparisons to the King of Kansas City, George Brett, began.

Gordon continued his meteoric rise destroying Double-A ball by slugging .588 and batting .325.  He was promoted to Kansas City in 2007 and experienced his first down year of his baseball career.

New York Yanks Look for 10 Straight vs Tampa Bay Rays

Coming off of a 4-3 victory yesterday over the Tigers, Alfredo Aceves and the Yankees will look to make it 10 spring training wins in a row (whoopty doo...).

Mets Need To Be Concerned About John Maine

Back in 2001 the Mets had a pitcher named Steve Trachsel. Through his star-crossed career Trachsel had become what one would call an inconsistent pitcher; one who at times could look really, really good, and times where he could look really, really awful.

On one late April night against the San Diego Padres at Shea Stadium, Trachsel got bombed by the Padres and had to be pulled out of the game by then manager Bobby Valentine. It appeared that the Mets had had enough of Trachsel, who was getting blistered every time he touched the mound.

Early Prediction: NL All-Star Team Lineup

Just making some early predictions for all-stars in the NL.

Remember, the rules call for each team to consist of 32 players, and at least one from each of the teams in the league.

C: Russell Martin, Dodgers; Best catcher in the league, arguably.

1B: Albert Pujols, Cards; MVP is a guarantee.

2B: Chase Utley, Phillies; The best second baseman in the league, unarguably.  The ols MVP will be yet again an All-Star.

3B: David Wright, Mets; Maybe one of the best players ever.

Jamie Moyer Slowly Building His Case for the Hall Of Fame

Talk about a Jekyll-and-Hyde.

Talk about the difference between day and night.

Talk about what a difference a few years can make.

How do you describe Jamie Moyer's baseball career?

In his first nine seasons in the majors, Moyer amassed 59 victories and 76 losses for the Chicago Cubs, the Texas Rangers, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Baltimore Orioles.

Slide Moyer's mug shot alongside the definition of "journeyman" in any baseball publication you care to mention.

Recession Finally Setting in on the Sports World

Bleacher Report writers need to wake up to reality.

Question: Why didn't the Mets sign Manny Ramirez?

Answer: They couldn't afford him.

Really? The New York Mets?  I don't understand...

I do. The Wilpons got disemboweled by Bernard Madoff and now face the possibility of losing Citigroup as a main sponsor.
